I've been slow getting this done and it still needs to go lower at the front but here's the Mazda 1000 in all it's Minilite wearing, four cylinder glory. That door mirror's coming off by the way. Charlie

Another inch off the front springs, take the door mirror off, get it through an MOT - needs bushes, enjoy it this summer.
May get the rusty bits treated. It's in a garage with a deumidifier so it's not going to rust any further - but there's lots of small rust patches and a rusty back panel.
Maybe a Mazda MX5 1.8 engine and box - one day, not yet.

I had one of these, although mine was a 1300 rather than a 1000. I thought it drove much better than the equivelent Datsun 1200. Better ride and the seats were more comfy. If it'd had been a two door and hadn't had rotten door bottoms I'd still have it. Great little car with loads of potential.

That's adorable and awesome in equal measure. Love the Mazdas of this era, they all seem to have such distinctive designs to them.

Lovely. That planned one inch at the front will make a really big difference. Cool!

Wow that's cool, can't remember ever seeing one before either. So other than a bit lower and cleaner lines without the mirror - anything else planned?

It's small. The wheels are 13" I think. It probably weighs 700kgish. Charlie About 800kgs actually. They're a great car, too light in the back, the door bottoms rust badly too and they can be tricky to find bits for. I love mine and miss it a lot.

Tell me about it. I'm having trouble finding bushes for it. Do you have any?

On the spring chopping front I have already cut three and a half coils out of the front springs. Will do another coil soon.

Awesome cars these - I had a blue 1300 4 door and loved it to bits. Only sold it to fund the capri engine rebuild. There's a build thread for it somewhere if you search 1976 Mazda 1300 (probably two build threads as 2002gimp had it before me) it's in France now doing hill climbs with allsorts of expensive machinery! Such a fun car

Mirrors are crappy Ebay specials from the Philippines I think. About £40 a pair. Look good but had to be shaved and mauled to fit.
