Well I finally managed to edit the rest of the pics from August's A52 weekend, before the gathering weekend (which I've also done and will put up after). To start with, here's vilerug working on the Imp, I'm un-sure what he was doing though . . . Mark's just finished the Colt James measuring up the Daimler's carb bits Bruce deciding where to chop the beemer's springs (we found out later they are ever so slightly pig-tailed so wouldn't go back in!) We all then take a trip to the tube diner, where much awesome food is served! Chillin' While we're all eating, a guy with very nice citroen drives past. We force him to stop. Shot of Rich's MG The Diner Was such a great chilled evening. When we return to A52, the crowd is beside themselves as Rich gets the MG on the ramp . . . To start work on a panhard rod for it Jame's Imp makes one hell of a footrest and he manages to sort some new seat mounts for it It was then time for the gathering in a few weekends time!

Here's mine. As you can see the writing is a little oversized. I'll re-do it smaller, on thinner card and it should work fine.

With the help of Bruce we managed to cut out a stencil into some card. I got the sidewall height wrong so the writing was a bit too tall. Also, the card I found was a bit thick so couldnt flex it around the sidewall easily couldnt get a crisp finish. Trial and error mind, and considering it was the first time we tried it it came out pretty well! I think it looked good on the car but each to their own. I'll get some pics up tonight.
The speedhunters ones are the same idea, but laser cut stickers, so single use only. The card one can be used over and over. Yes they do wear off over time, but just a re-spray solves that. I used some standard white paint I found laying around the workshop. They wore off on one side on the way down, avoiding a pot hole I ironically rubbed the kerb instead!! Fail.

Here's Bruce trying to find a diesel leak on the bimmer estate's engine and tinkering with the daimler Ben brings in his 940 estate to chop the springs Mark begining work on the sigma, spring chopping hoooooo!!! Now sitting sweet Rim polishing SHinnnyyy!! Rich's MG on the way to the diner. Like I said, more to come, just might be a little while!

Here's a few of my pics from the latest weekend in May. Sorry (AGAIN) for the delay! When I arrive things are already under way. Callum rubbing down Gibson's rim(s) for spraying Meanwhile Gibson preps a trolley for BBQ modification, and naturally has to test the handling. Oil drum gets cut up for the BBQ And trolley is prepared for teh weldingz Meanwhile the rims are getting sprayed James's Imp receives a fitting sticker . . . Dave in a trolley Buzzy buzzy "ha ha look at the small man in a trolley" . . . who isnt amused The smug curse word remains in the trolley, and we proceed to put surplus go kart wheels around the trolley. . . Realising the camber looks a bit curse word, we start adding more things, and giving things for Dave to hold After the kart antics, Bruce's escort gets brought in for an EFI swap in . . . Rich preps the replacement engine Tim looks off into the middle distance, Engine nearly prepped Dave's ovlov gets brought in for much modification, in the form of diff welding and zorst fab. Someone also has the great idea to plaster his phone number on the side of his car . . . Rich fabbing up a twin exit exhaust Pip brings muhc awesomeness in the form of Oreo cookie cakes OM NOM NOM A nice attractive shot of the cakes creator . . "Jon, go away." Nice bit of graffiti and er, well this . . . hahaaaaa what the hell. Fantastic time as always, I'll miss the next play weekend as I'm in France, but theres always the next one!!

It now has now front!! I had an argument with a grinder/slittng disc, and 8 medical staples later, being told I have to rest it for a while, getting bored and having cars to work on, i used the grinder which tried to kill me to cut the front off the fiat, as it was offensive. Its now hanging up on my garage wall. Wont go any further with panel cutting until I manage to buy some panels, so I know where to cut/weld. I don't want to get stuck and find Ive removed too much material. I need to grind back the last of the sound deadening, and once I've got some gas I'll start welding up the floor.

So last months play weekend. Here's my pics and recollections of the many antics that ensued over the weekend. First order of the day was to sort out the scrap in the unit, trailer hooked up, (had to be welding as some bits were rusted through) and off Bruce and James went. Speedy's Colt Sigma gets brought in to do some structural welding on the arches. Diablou brings in his half BMX to finish off his drift trike. On the other side of the unit, Bruce and Co. tinker with the Daimler's radiator. Robin makes some adjustments to his custom built bike. . . Hey Mark whatcha doin? Mark's hole Grinding back . . . As far as I can remember that was it for that night apart from the usual banter. I'm off to work now so I'll finish off the rest tomorrow.

Coooorrrr its been a fair old while!!! This beast was hauled up for a year, with lack of money, lack of time, uni, work and lack of garage space/no power to it. I found a little bit of time time work on it mid winter, grinding back rust spots. I then found that there was much more filler than I thought. The WHOLE front panel and half of each front wing was filler. My God. Its odd to think that a lot of time and effort went into filling the thing instead of welding stuff. Would have thought it would have been quicker! I've some pics of the discovery somewhere so I'll have to dig them out. Anyway, I proceeded to undo some poor sods handy work to see how bad it was. It just kept on going. I've now moved to a new place with the gaf and work has begun again. Once we get the old place's housing deposit back I'll be able to put some money into him. For now, it was mostly arranging bits and sorting out the garage. With the primitive tools I already have, I figured I'd kill some time with a hammer and screw driver. I removed most of the sound deadening to see if there was any more rust, but there was none, other than what was already known about. I also thwacked the wings and front panel. Tried an odd banded steel on the car, looks good! So plans first and foremost are to get him roadworthy (welding, new panels and bushes). I'll then make up a front lower wishbone kit as well as sort some wheels, sort out and tidy the interior too as the seats are pretty tatty. I'll try and keep things updated! Â

Only because he did a good few quick large donuts, AFAIK after everyone had had a talking to by the beach marshall bloke.
If he didn't talk to the escort chap before he had a slide then I guess we can chill out a bit. It doesn't however change the fact that the escort sliding around was the tipping point for the beach supervisor. After he told off the guy in the escort, he kicked us all off as well.
Unfortunate timing really. Those that were just chilling and chatting were kicked off because the escort was the last straw. Hence why we're all a little brassed off.
In the escort chaps defense, I know he can drive well, as the amount of times I've seen the car at drift and track days, he is in control. But it still doesn't change the fact it was a relatively busy "public car park" with kids etc still about.

As Robin said, and has been said by all, fantastic weekend, even if the beach break was cancelled! Well shots are edited, but it's late I'm tired and my photobucket account is full. I'll make a new one tomorrow and post them all up. There were a lot this weekend! For now, here's some welding, a lotus suspended by scaffolding . . . and a man's demonstration of his questionable sanity . . .
