Right then, here's a waaaaayyy too long overdue post from the most recent playweekend (apart from the one that is happening right now). I arrived to Revillug's Clan all dusty and up in the air. Good to see this dug out and being worked on. Some art work courtesy of Pollit Since it was Area 52's 5th birthday, George and his girlfriend made a very fitting, very accurate cake Matt starts the brake swap on the pug A little bit of an upgrade! George has a long list of stuff to sort on his daily but lends a hand on Matt's pug first Beer and banter Dave tries some cider that's been in the unit for a few years, shed loads of sediment Jonny's massive sippy cup Whats the Merc like lowered even more? In the morning, Bruce and Ian start work on the Landy and Dodge Jonny takes apart some hubs Mark cracks on with the renault 4 Robin gets some old mag wheels to tear down Steve drinks his mixers from a jug, like a sir Hey Ross, whatcha doin? Tig returns with food of the gods which is quickly devoured The candles on the cake are lit PARTY! "Ah yes, indubitably" Pip's beemer is on the ramp again for a diff swap Dashing Tig Ross' shirt is no longer white . . . Robin in Ninja mode Dave in ninja mode

You'll have to speak to Bruce about rental stuff but I'm 99.999999999% sure there's no space at the moment! Anyways, here's May's play weekend pics. Rich's first duty of the day is to lower the XG to an acceptable standard. It occurs. Meanwhile Speedy brings in the sigma for some fettling and a new wiper motor plate Rich preparing the carrots for the boil - no wait, chopping bump stops! Re-assembling A ridge racer arcade that's been donated, that hasn't run in years. It was a bit of a challenge getting it going but after sacrificing some old computer bits, seemed to fire up . . . Rich, cracking on with the XG's rear coils Matt and George getting on with the V6 405 In the background, Bruce tinkers with the Renault 4's pretty rotten chassis James adjusting the carbs on the Daimler, getting it running better One lowered XG! Rob, pops over for a lesson in welding, Bruce lends a hand James goes out to test drive the Daimler Os tries to whip the torsion bar down on the Pug, but gives the coils a go instead Robin's VW in for an exhaust centre section and handbrake cables Rob gets put to the test on the R4, making templates, cutting and welding Here's Jonny on a collapsed chair In Speedy's Sigma for a cooked breakfast A very nice Daimler and some very period wheels That was it for the May weekend. Pretty busy going, hopefully next play weekend will see more work on the R4 happening. Looking forward to the next one!

A ha yeah it says below your profile pic! Doh. Fingers are ok now they've scabbed over ha ha. Was on the old metal panels I was cutting off. They were pretty deep. You say I'm getting on with it quick, but I've had it for going on 3 years now! Managed to do a bit more work recently, made up a fog light using a rain light and a bracket out of sheet steel. Its not too tidy but its only a trial for now. Works well though. Did a bit of welding on the jacking points (the only mid chassis sections needing it, surprisingly) And I got the other wing off, this time with less blood shed. Its definitely been crash damaged though, so will need beating back of replacing . . . Fanned out the inner wings to get more clearance for the wider wheels. I'll be running smaller lower profile tyres so clearance will increase even more. I'll weld them up once I've sorted the front suspension and put the smaller tyres on. Also managed to get the rad out and thermostat off. Safe to say the stat is buggered, and the water pump propeller isnt looking great . . . It still spins though, but its never coming off in one piece, thats for sure! Managed to snap one of the spades on the back of the fan housing attached to the resistor pack. I assume its to control fan speed? The one to the top left looks like its been missing for a while. I got the rear plate on with some light up mounting bolts I bought off ebay, as I'm running the car bumperless, so don't have anywhere to mount a number plate light. Also had to cut off some old jubilee clips so will be getting some t-bar clips to replace those.

Here's my pics from the weekend, so Rich can stop nagging me ha ha. When I turn up the renault's body is already off the chassis and people are around it inspecting the crustiness Bruce's slammed-rover tucked up for future tinkering George, Meirion and Matt crack on with the 405 Discussing body storage options My mate Ross loving life. Buzzing up some scaffolding in prep for the R4's storage Temporary cross members to stop the shell from flexing Scaffold prep Meanwhile outside, Kev's beemer gets a towbar for a framing another dori BMW Corb's landy in for a new bull bar (here's Ross again!) Everyone loves to help out . . . R4 body gets shifted onto the scaffolding Mmmmmm the rust Blargh painting! Kev ended up crashing on the landy real early, had one hell of a busy week Case in deep conversation The next day George's 205 springs a leak at the sump. Too much nordshleife Jame's Imp gets some downforce Bull bar nearly there. Servicing the landy is next on the list Rich wires up a twin battery system George welds his 205's sump back up Some more pics coming, plus a GIF of the missing R4 chassis!

Jelly where are you based? Its going ok thanks, nearly sliced off two of my fingers getting the other wing off, which still isn't completely removed. Doors are off and I've started welding up the chassis rust on the inside (jacking points and other bits. I'll start the bodywork when I can, hopefully this weekend.
I work retail at halfords so do random hours, but if you're free let me know. I'll update the thread with some pictures when I get back from work.
Power wise I'll leave it as is for now. I may tweak it a bit later on but nothing serious. Who knows? Once its on the road I may consider it.

Thanks for the tip off chap. Seems a lot better price than what ive seen so far. If that comes with the coilover struts THATS very good! Doesn't say though so I'll chase that up.

Cheers man! I did swap number 12 in the image and move it to the bottom. The trouble with the leaf design on these is because they form the "lower wishbone" of the front sus it destroys the geometry and handling. If I flipped it, it wouldn't locate on the body, number 10 in this image wouldnt be there essentially. i103.photobucket.com/albums/m152/pedro126/Untitled1_edited-1.jpgbut if I flip some round, I'll be going against the springs tension, and I don't like the idea! I could remove some but then it wouldnt locate right in the mounts either. I might just swap a load over and see what happens, so as to move the eye's of the spring further up the sandwich. Once it was first off it was real easy to put back on again, so now everything's no longer rusty its should be pretty hassle free to take it off and experiment. I'm happy to fab up a wishbone conversion, it'd be a cool challenge and give me a chance to calculate the geometry changes etc through the compression and rebound strokes, and try and minimise them. Just the coilovers. I'm planning on ringing AVO tomorrow just to get an idea of price.

Managed to machine down the leaf spring mounting blocks today and re-mount the spring, which I re-arranged as I re-greased it. It's lower but not much, as I expected to be honest. It looks like a coilover conversion is the only way to go! I copper greased them just to be safe and try and prevent them corroding to the steel again!

Thanks man. This one has only done 25k but was stood in an old guys garden for years! Hence the rust. Would explain why it runs quite well though still! I have this as the girlfriend really liked them, but then I got let loose on it and now its another of my projects. Should have been both of our but our views of what the car should be differed a lot!

Oh I got it running too. I'll pop a vid up of that soon, but its not too interesting. It just sort of works. Needs a bit of work on the idle as it seems to struggle a but. Either way, its got oil pressure, fuel, a clean fuel filter and charge. The only downside is either the stat is stuck or the rad's blocked. Hot top pipes with pressure and naf all in the bottom ones. I'll investigate that tomorrow.

Sorry, just read your conversion is bolt on? That means it has the same carrier spacing as a cinq or did you have to make an adaptor? You've got me thinking now ha ha!

Hehe found my answer about the brakes fitting under 13s. Tidy but tight! Overkill on a 126 I reckon unless you're pushing power. Still, why the hell not?

Probably, so long as they fit under 13s. All that'd be needed is the bracket dimensions finding out, disc offset and where it sits on the hub and them being made up.
This one came with an aerial and speaker, but no head unit. Looks like the components for sound were installed as standard but a radio was an option.

Cheers man! The disc are fiat cinquecento, same with the calipers. I'll replace the lines as I go too. They seem ok but it's been hauled up for a while so don't want any nasty surprises! With the speakers, so ong as I find some the same size yeah. We'll see how they are first, I've never been too into speakers so long as sound comes out of them and I can make out music I too cant wait to see it with arches, but it wont be for a little while yet. I get a pay bonus end of may so I'll just throw it at the car and see if some of it sticks.

Thanks for the kind words fella!
Elwoody, yeah ha ha that was my "success look what I did . . . oh curse word" moment. I'm replacing winder anyway, but the standards do clear. If the new ones don't I'll make a spacer to space the off the card a bit.

Managed to do a load more work on the fiat today. Got the other side's ali mounting block off ok, I'll skim them down on monday. Rebuilt the leaf spring too, greased it all and swapped leaf 12 to the bottom to see how it looks/feels. Also managed to fit some speakers in the door cards, the quality will no doubt be pretty poor, but they were 3 quid car boot sales ones, and I was a big fan of the 80's look! Shame the door cards are utterly buggered. It'll be simple enough to make some replacements though. Also started taking the LH wing off. I have no idea what I'm doing. I've tried the spot weld drill bit and nothing seems to want to give. I'm going to put the body work off until I can get a mate round who's far more familiar with the stuff! With regards to the leaf spring and lowering, I've managed to get some measurements to start fabbing up a lower wishbone conversion, which should be pretty easy to put together. Only costly bit will be the coilovers. I'm looking into existing short pin-pin coilovers but can't find any yet.
