Bit of home DIY. De-rusting the floor and adding some soundproofing. And before anyone moans, it's private property so anyone who got within 2 metres of me would have been trespassing. The floors are pitted, but not perforated yet, They'll need replacing at some point, but they'll do for now Ground back and treated the grotty bits Slapped on a crapload of anti rust primer and a further crapload of red oxide Slapped down a bit of sound proofing in the hope that I can talk to other occupants without shouting I did the front footwells too, but didn't bother taking any pictures because it looks the same as the back. All back together, will find out how good the soundproofing is when I go shopping.

MOT Exemption Davenger

Needs to be registered as a historic vehicle first. in doing so, it qualifies for tax and MOT exemption No it doesn’t. Your 1973 car is automatically MOT exempt if it meets the criteria for VHI. To change the VED class to Historic, you need to take your V5 and a completed V112 form to a Post Office so they can send it to DVLA. The MOT has been extended for 6 months, not indefinitely. I didn't say it was automatic. I said it qualifies for it.

Unfortunately Avengers aren't very generous with space in the wheelarches, so 6" wide is the max you can really go without arch work. Depends on the offset and tyres, I've got 7x13 on my Avenger with 185 60 13

A few more bits. Avenger steering wheel centre. The rest of it has probably rotted away

So I got my replacement brake pads, which was nice. Then my new drums turned up. They appear to be NOS, which I wasn't expecting. I thought I was just getting some good used ones. Still had the packing grease on them. Gave them a good clean up in the kitchen sink, like you do. Also ran them through the parts washer at work while the boss wasn't looking. Gave them a lick of paint Then I stuck them on and bled the system, so I now have brakes. Always handy.

Having wasted half a day looking for my vacuum bleed kit. Gave up and cracked on regardless. Brake unions came undone nicely, having spent half the week giving them a squirt of wd40 in the evening. Properly smashed that The other side is in much better shape. One of the brake lines didn't want to come undone, so I'm leaving it as it is instead of shearing it off. Just new pads and drum for this side Turned out that the replacement brake shoes I bought were't a full set, so the bloke I got them from sent me some replacements. Still waiting on my replacement drums. Looking forward to getting it all back together so I can drive the bloody thing.

Yeah, I reckon that side of the wheel cylinder was stuck. The other shoe had loads left on it

Haven't even looked at the other side. Although, I have ordered a wheel cylinder for that side too.

At the beginning of December, I had to do an emergency stop at 50mph on the A12 after some pleb cut me up and hit the brakes. All 4 wheels locked up, car got a bit sideways and a little bit of poo may have come out, but I didn't hit them. Quite surprising, as they only left me 3 car lengths to stop. As a result of my encounter with this utter knob jockey, I strained the tendon in my right knee, having properly wellied the brake pedal. Anyway, the knee has healed enough for me to check the car over because the handbrake stopped working and it developed a grinding noise from the rear. Do I got the drum off (which was no mean feat) and surveyed the damage. The drum is badly scored, but didn't bother taking a picture because I'm planning on replacing both. The brakes didn't feel right after the incident, and this is probably why. I managed to break a wheel cylinder And rip what was left of the brake lining off one of the brake shoes. The rest of the brake lining was floating around inside the drum. To make matters worse, the shoes I had been supplied were the wrong ones, so I couldn't have done anything, even if the wheel cylinder had been intact.# Got a pair of wheel cylinders and another set of shoes on the way, and I've sourced a set of second hand drums.

Build a carport for it in front of the garage, then put your gym in there.
