Last week I finally attacked the scabby bits and cracked filler that I've been putting off. Got a bit carried away, no holes though Of course it started to rain just after taking those pictures, so I had to hastily apply a load of red oxide primer. This week I fixed my non working indicator, tuned out my rough idle and freed off a stuck piston on my brakes. Also fixed the passenger side door handle, so my other half can get in While I had the door card off, I thought I'd have a go at sticking the vinyl back on. Turned out ok. Bottoms a bit wrinkly

After much fiddling about and swearing, the avenger has a new uprated alternator. 55 amps to keep up with the extra electrical requirements

Small victories New and shiny makes me happy. It's only a throttle return spring, but the original kept breaking and was gradually getting shorter and shorter every time I re attached it. Also fixed an oil leak and tweaked the timing a bit by ear to get it running better. Also took the play out of the throttle linkages to improve throttle response

Plus the new-to-old paint done on it is fricking amazing. I'm still absolutely blown away by how seamless that is on this truck. It's one of my favourite Dezbuilds because of the paint. So you like it because of the bit he didn't do

Popped some new headlights in. The silver had come off the old ones so they were a bit rubbish. Should help me see a bit better at night. Better than eating carrots anyway.

All welded up. So I fitted a new clutch plate, with the old pressure plate. And, it didn't work. Really hard to select a gear, and made a horrible noise when you did. Turns out the late model and early model friction plates are different. The late model clutch on the right has extra material on the back, which means it won't make proper contact with the early model flywheel Managed to find a NOS early clutch, and got it all fitted yesterday. I finally have a working car again.

Looks like zero penetration and it's just laid a porous bead on the top of the joint? Exactly what my mate said before he welded it up

Hi folks.
Looking for a friction and pressure plate for a 1971 avenger.
Cheers Dave

Indeed it should. Clearly welded by an orangutan with a TIG torch. Thankfully, it's now with an actual professional welder
