She runs! ;D Well.... did haha The engine is in now, runs sweet as a nut and is just as good as i expected it to be Plenty of power, sounds nice and generally much better than the old B14 lump! So i took this video: Had it out for a test drive and loved it. Couple of small problems, so came home and sorted them, then went out again and it was great. so i decided to set off to my girlfriends, about 15 miles away. 5 miles from home, just before a small hill and a little straight i thought id see what she can do, dropped a gear, floored it and vvvvvRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMm thought id missed a gear, but a hadn't Snapped the bleeding prop shaft didn't I! The female splined end has just sheered on the rubber boot, but at least the clutch hasn't broken like i first thought. If anyone knows of a 340 prop shaft for sale, or can recommend any good prop shaft makers, then please let me know!!

I have a Sytec inline pump with the filter just before it. The flow and return lines are 8mm Internal Diameter and the pump is mounted level with the base of the fuel tank with about 1m of fuel hose leading up to it. The pumps brand new and so its the filter/lines.
I have a diferent igneter coming as that might be half the problem. Went over my wiring for a 3rd time today aswell and its all ok!
Thanks, James

Hi everyone. Ive just finished putting the 4age from a '86 MR2 into my volvo 340 and its not running very happily. It idles badly ( but this is because oif the knackered dizzy cap) and it wont rev past 2K. When you open the throttle it jumps between 1 and 2K and wont go any higher! The ignition is set properly, its getting fuel ( although it is running abit rich) ive tested the TPS and thats fine, water temp sensors should be fine but I don't have any spares to try and I'm going to put a new dizzy cap and rotor arm in on saturday. Heres a link to YouTube showing the symptoms:
If anyone solves it for me I will buy you a pint next time I see you!
Thanks, James

I know the feeling, there isnt any street lights out here either! If you really want good lights, you can make a wiring loom for them so that the +ve goes straight to the battery via a fuse along with the earth, and they are switched on an off by relays which are connected to the original +ve and earth. here's a link to the website i made mine from: www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/WiringHeadlightRelays.htmmakes an even bigger difference than just the earth as i did it to my volvo

I used to have one of thes not too long ago! soon had most of the problems that you had, but not the sunroof one as i didnt have one! The problems you rhaving with you windows might be down to the black connectors for the door wiring harness where you can un plug it if your removing the door. 2 of the wires fell out of mine so the speakers packed in, and the rest were loos as they have a tendancy to just fall out of the back of the connector If you run a wire from the earth on your headlight connectors drirectly to the battery, you will probably see a noticable improvement to the brightness. Did this to mine and a mates polo and it was great! If you want an anti roll bar for it i hae one in the garge still, yours for a tenner plus what ever postage will be. Makes a big differance as i don't think yours will have one fitted as standard as mine didnt ps, mine ended up matt black, low and on some alloys

Chamba, the 340's brilliant! I highly recommend that you get one In other news though, i have modified the water outlet from the back of the cylinder head that went to the heater. As the MR2 layout is basicly fwd, the outlet left no where for the hose to go, other than into the fire wall, so after a bit of drilling, tapping and spinning up an outlet on thel lathe i have this: The best bit is, that i threaded both holes, so if i want i can just unscrew the plug and the adaptor, swap em round and run a heater if i want Is dead simple to do, all M16 threads so you can get fittings and i'd recommend it to anyone else doing something like this with a 4age

In case you don't know its the Malcolm Wilson rally tomorrow! Along with the usual WRC, 1L and 1400cc classes there is usually a good turnout in the classics as well, so expect lots of mk2/1 escorts and the occasional Hillman Avenger. Heres the link to there website for information www.malcolmwilson.co.uk/If your driving as well, try to get there nice and early so you get parked and don't park on the soft verges as you'll look like a fool when your asking for a tow out Heres a sideways BMW from last years event on one of the whinlatter stages:

Got some more parts through the post this week The ice-cream cone arrived along with the shaft that goes through it and into the clutch. I need to make up and adapter that will attach it to the bell housing with bolts, rather than welding it all together as it will be much easier to repair/ modify in the future this way

3 weeks ago today I was picking up the engine that i'd managed to get on eBay! It was the usual story of getting out bid, then having the seller come back to you because the guy who won, didn't really want it. Good for me, but the seller was a really nice guy and didn't mind me driving up his lawn to load up the engine. So I packed up the car and set off via Birmingham to pick up my girlfriend. All packed up. Engine, gearbox, engine crane, tools, 2x banded steels (swapped for skinny wheels as they scrubbed too much) and some house speakers which didnt work. On the way back up the A1 we stopped off for lunch so I grabbed some pics of the crazy stance. Keeping lunch retro aswell of course! And then it began to snow! This messed up the original plans slightly as we were planning on A1 > A66 > home, but the A66 regularly gets closed when its snowy, so rather than taking the risk, we turned left at Manchester, then up the m6. 6hours,30 mins later we got home. Foot deep snow, one on edge girlfriend and a big grin on my face from being sideways on the m6 for about 90miles at 30mph seeing as it was also only 11ish when I got home, I unloaded the engine and got a photo of it when I got up the next day. The next weekend I went out for a drive down to my girlfriends and took her out for lunch. Stopped down by the lake aswell as it was quite a nice view. And my favourite shot That's all for now though folks! Until I get the ice cream cone that is

Skip to the bottom see the start of the volvo as this was originally going to be just for the Jiffy!
[30-3-2012] Heres my long overdue build thread for my jiffy with some other RR worthy stuff thrown in!. I should have got some details up earlier, but seeing as I'm a teenager and inherently lazy I haven't yet, so here's the story: Last year, after school and before starting my apprenticeship I worked in the James bond museum in Keswick, and while speaking to my boss/ the owner, he told me about this old pickup that he had sat at home which I could have cheep as it was "Knackered". So I went over to have a look at the little beauty after doing abit of research into what it actually was and heres the pictures: I then spent the next two days trying to start the 998cc mini engine that powered her, but had no such luck. After i'd had that months wages given back to my boss, me, a friend and his dad went over and pushed it onto the back of his trailer and carted it off to my house, so my mum could see it for the first time I then had the "proud new owner" picture taken, which does a good job of showing how small it actually is! After a while I got it all dismantled so I could start checking the chassis ect for rust and doing some fiberglass work on the cab. after that I moved the chassis into the garage, piled bikes and general rubbish ontop of it, and left it to hibernate for a couple of months, only coming out when I did this to my old polo: And then all of a sudden a bought this and sold the polo! which now looks like this: Soon it'll be getting an fresh wing (minus the stickers) and a 4age dropped in, but I need to find one first and get a stand-in car, or alot of lifts to work But back to the jiffy, After being inside for quite a while, ive pulled it back outside after rebuilding the top of the engine with new valves, seals etc and fitted these to it: and now she runs sweet as a nut! Aside from having retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=doninphi make me some great stickers to keep the font looking original, I haven't really done much since fitting those, My plan is to have it MOT'd and on the road by the end of summer and eventually make the trek down to RRG either in this with lots of spaeres on the flatbed or in the volvo
