I know these are great value, but only £130 for one as tidy as this is truly unbelievable!! I reckon your George has got a point on lowering it though, they do sit a bit high as standard. I like the current wheels, a bit of a drop and a clean up and this will be a very nice example. Excellent purchase, get some more pics up.

'Been checking out this entire thread today. Cracking effort and obviously a lot of thought gone into this. I've always loved the Herald shape and combined with the modern engine and running gear it's the best of both worlds. You won't win me over on the wheel choice, but everything else is just superbly executed. Keep going mate, this is fantastic!

What you using to strip the panels with Steve? I found stripping discs in the angry grinder made easy work on my Polo.

IMO, the replacement downdraught Weber is much more in keeping with this car. If you can utilise the OE air filter housing too that'd be great. Keep us posted mate, along with Steve's Cavalier this is sooperdooper.

I know I keep saying it Steve, but this really is stunning. That engine bay and front end looks totally mint. An awful lot of extra time and effort where others would of cut corners or bodged. I assume you'll have all the outside painted in one go and are you gonna finish the underside in body colour too? Keep going mate, Cheers, Richard.

Going up from a 3.9 to a 3.7 will slightly improve things, but not by much. Trouble is, what the RV8 lacks in power it makes up for in low down torque, hence making your 1st gear pretty much redundant. A 3.9 diff is way too low for the RV8, ideally you need a much taller final drive. Something around 3 to 3.2:1 would be much more suitable. Wasn't there a diesel version of the Hunter, dunno what diff that had? I can only see you have two other options. Firstly you could fit a 5 speed RV8 gearbox. However these are expensive and you'll still have a 1st gear that is useless. Secondly you could modify and fit a V6 Capri axle, IIRC some of these are 3.04:1? However, these are heavier, would need narrowing, the spring seats moving and so on. Good luck Dave.

TBH, I never liked any of the FWD Escorts - however this is very tidy and looks great in hearing aid beige. Sits very well too on those black steels. Must go well and make a great noise with the bike carb'd Zetec. Much likey! More pics please.

That's handy having a mate who can sort the dents out, it can be expensive otherwise. Genuine OE mats FTW!

Nice, these are a lot of car for the money. It'd be good if you can get the dents sorted and give that lovely interior a proper clean. If it were mine I'd keep it OE with only period BMW extras, a touch of the lowering stick and maybe some slightly bigger diameter wheels. BTW, those floor mats need to go, they are just wrong in every way!! Good luck with sorting the few problems it has, keep us posted.

So you're gonna bare metal the whole of the outside? This'll be absolutely mint once it's finished, I for one can't wait to see it finished. Keep up the excellent work.

Just read this from start to finish. Just the sort of build thread I like with a very high standard of workmanship and fantastic finish throughout. Keep going and kick the painter up the backside for keeping us all waiting!

As usual that looks fantastic. The CIH isn't a "pretty" engine at the best of times mainly due to being non crossflow unit. However I'm sure it'll look its absolute best once you have finished with it. Keep going mate, this is gonna be superb once its finished.

Bedford CF, it wouldn't happen to be an orange one would it? As for options on getting it home, it is a long way to attempt to drive if it's running badly - however with AA cover it might be worth a try? I'd take the ignition bits and keep everything crossed.
Good luck.

I have started, two to breathe through, one to eat with and one to talk out of. Haha, nice one! Fantastic build and CF work. Can't wait to see this one finished, it'll be one very quick car indeed. Keep us posted.
