Well I have a new addition to my fleet. About 8 years ago I had a white 2.8i and I absolutely loved it. However I had to let it go as I wasn't in the same position back then as I am now. Regretted it ever since. I have been watching Capris for sale for the last two years. Just as I was enquiring to do a deal on here with a member about theirs. I spotted this, negotiated a very cheap deal and drove the two hours with the trailer to view it. I've had it a few weeks now, today was a great opportunity to get it out and clean it. I'll let the pics do the talking. The obligatory snow foam session. Then after a good wash, polish, linseeding and general tidying here it is. It's by no means perfect but I couldn't walk away without it with the price. It's on the road and useable. My plans are similar to my other projects; 2" drop and GAZ shocks and coilovers up front. Banded original wheels Some polybushes LSD Brake upgrades Then the only difference from the others is that I'd quite like to use this on track days. So that means some work around the engine. It also means I'm looking at a rear half cage, thinking brown to match the interior. Bolt in of course as I don't want to strip and ruin the car. Then some nice subtle 4 point harnesses preferably brown again if I can find them. Hope you all like and keep your eyes peeled for progress.

Thank you very much for your comments. I am really pleased with it loads. I took it to the local airfield to watch some light aircraft. Next thing I knew a Vulcan flew over. Totally awesome machine.

Thanks for all the comments. Bit of a while since I've updated this due to all the other projects taking up time. However the Capri has been sitting nicely in the corner gathering dust. Until today, I decided it was time to wheel it out and give it a wash and polish. You may notice it is on RS 4 spokes now as the wheels are away at the fabricators being banded. Still got good plans for it. Just need to clear some working space in the unit so that I can get on with the jobs!

Mk2polobloke - Thank you very much sir. She photos very well in fairness to her!
Sarkie83 - That's exactly similar, can double take it and it's almost like mine! Love it.
Edwardbear - Thanks mate, it's only getting some subtle fettling. She will still look the same, just hopefully a lot cooler.

Ok, time for an update. Since the Granada has gone I wanted to start on the Capri and progress it further. The steel wheels are off and with my engineer for banding and currently it's sitting on a mixture of Wellers and RS 4 spokes. First up I decided it really needed a Cambelt as I've never fitted one to it and it's better to be safe than sorry. I wouldn't normally drop the coolant out for this job but it was pretty much rusty water. This gave me the opportunity to remove the radiator and it's in pretty good shape but would benefit from a fresh coat of paint. Removed the Cambelt cover and it was quite battered! This would benefit from a blasting and costing me thinks! The timing belt on the car wasn't actually in too bad of a condition and the bearing in the tensioner was only slightly worn. Having said that I still chucked a new belt and tensioner on. I also changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm. Surprisingly it's still on points and condenser, I may well electronic ignition swap this setup. The HT leads look quite new but I may get a new set in the future. I turned my attention back to the radiator and after a good rub down. I gave it a coat of grey primer then finally a good coating of gloss black. I'm quite happy with the results. I fitted the rad back in to the car. The Cambelt cover and radiator plate need blasting and coating so they'll go back on later. Next up I've decided to modify the suspension on the Capri, I want to go a bit lower than I normally would on my projects so I've decided to modify the front legs to coilovers. I managed to source a complete spare pair of Pinto front legs rather than immobilise the car. I then stripped them down fully in preparation for modifying. The ones with pink tags are from the drivers side so that I can remember which ones go with what! Thank you all for looking and all comments welcomed and appreciated.

Another week, another update. Some of my parts arrived this week to complete the modifications I want to do. So today I decided to sort out the rear end suspension. First up was jacking it up and letting the rear axle hang. First up I removed both rear Spring shackles from the car. Literally everything on the underside is plastered with underseal. It's a right pain in the . I dropped these in to a bucket of thinners to soak off. Next up I went to remove the long front Spring eye bolts, this is the driver side, no problem here. Then I went to do the passenger side and I was greeted with this! Some absolute THUNDERCUNT has welded a bloody plate over the area of the access hole. Thought about it, then decided to clean the area up. It's badly welded and in fairness needs dealing with properly. But I decided to make two overlapping holes with my 'Christmas tree' cutter and file down the difference. This gave me good access to the nut and a decent OEM finish hole. I then undid the U bolts and removed the old leaf springs. As you can see below for replacements I have decided to use single leaf springs from the 2.8i versions. Next new purchase this week were these. Koni adjustable dampers front and rear. Got a bargain as I'm assuming by the boxes they're old stock. They certainly look like they've been on a shelf for some time. But as you can see they're brand new and in perfect condition. With the springs removed and the axle supported I decided to remove the old standard shock absorbers. The lower bolts just mount to the axle. The upper mounts are located neatly behind the back seats. Tilt the rear seats forward and you are presented with this. Behind the little inspection grommet is the top nuts. Undo these and the shocker comes out the bottom. Here's the shockers fitted to the car. I've decided to go with 2" lowering blocks to lower the rear. Unfortunately the locating dowel on the leaf spring was just a bit too wide. I decided to turn the washers down for a tight fit. Bit of a dark picture but here you can see the new single leaf Spring fitted with the 2" block and new U bolts. Then it was just a matter of doing everything up and lowering it down on to the ground. The rear now sits like this. The wheels are temporary just to keep up mobile but I like the height of truth be told. Thanks for looking.

Love how easy it is to work on a Capri, I had to remove the rear axle out of mine a few weeks and ago and was surprised how simple it was. I like the height at the back too, I'm gonna lower mine soon so I might do what you did, the 2.8 springs and 2 inch lowering blocks What wheels are you planning on going with?

rsmithy626 - Yes they're all really simple to strip, luckily everything came apart/undone easily with no dramas. I probably will strip and refurbish the axle at some point properly. The wheels to begin with will be banded 13" steels.
tomfairall - Really nice easy belts to do aren't they, bit like Transit 2.5Di lumps.
