Nice purchase Steve. My dad bought a white 1.8 GLi back in '91 on an F plate, it was a very comfortable car and went quite well too. It's a shame the previous owner didn't look after this like he did the Mk1 cause that was bodge free IIRC? So how far are you gonna go with this one? I assume it'll all be properly repaired and a full respray? I do hope so, I always enjoy following your builds. Cheers, Rich.

Really enjoying this thread, 'tis a great build. Just my opinion, but I prefer the Jasmine yellow. That start button is fitted very neatly and those new alloys look lovely too.

Fantastic attention to detail, this will be superb once it's done. Are you still gonna fit a vinyl roof? I almost always prefer cars without, obviously just my opinion. Can't wait to see this being fitted up after paint. Congrats on a great build.

Awwe bloody 'ell Dan, that is an absolute disgrace. If they were pre repair pics you'd just have to suck it up, but to have paid out £1500 just 18 months ago and now be faced with this is just taking the *iss.
The 5k you have been quoted, is that just for the screen surround/bulkhead repairs or does this include the floorpan/jacking points and all paint rectification? Lets face it, in our hobby (like virtually any other) we generally spend a lot of money which we never get back. We do it 'cos we love our cars. Even if you were to call it quits now, you'd still have to pay KWE for the work they have done so far. You'd then have to pay for the car to be recovered to your house/garage etc. Then you have to spend time stripping it down and selling off the good parts. You would probably make a fair bit in parts. However, I doubt it'd anywhere near cover all of your time and costs so far.
The chances of buying another XJS without any rot are very slim. I'd stick with what you have and get it repaired. It'll be a stunner once properly repaired.
Firstly, you must get in touch with the other company and try to get your money back. Show them the pictures and get a covering letter from KWE outlining the previous so called repairs and the issues that have ensued would help. Keep it polite but be firm, tell them in no uncertain terms you will be taking it further if they do not pay up.
I know it's easy for us to sit here and say "do this and that", but these people need to be held to account.
All the best Dan, stick with it if you can-eventually you'll have one of the best XJS on the road.

Welcome back Chris, so glad your back on it. Those CAE shifters are a proper piece of art! Great to see the "temporary" engine is finished to such a high standard too.

That looks an exceptional example. I assume its been restored or at least resprayed looking at just how tidy it appears?. The black grille and bezels make for a real improvement up front. Little jobs like cleaning that expansion bottle up all go towards making the car so much better. Well done you and the other half for having such great condition Capris.

Just read the entire thread, 'gotta say this is an absolutely stunning build. A mate of mine has a genuine 6R4 and they are an fookin beast of a car (as were all Group B cars!) I really enjoy seeing a build with such attention to detail, whether it be a modest saloon resto or a real weapon like this. Keep up the fantastic work mate.

This looks a great project and I love the direction you are taking this. I'm a big fan of the sleeper look and as cavboy80 stated, the original steels slightly banded would look stealthy. I'm sure I've heard these don't take to being lowered much without causing issues with the suspension/steering geometry and cross member/tarmac clearance? I reckon Sprint ride height, all stock body in white and slightly banded steels with hub caps would be a fantastic combination - especially with the lovely S2000 engine under the bonnet! Good luck with this shoey, I'll be keeping an eye out for any further updates.

Welcome to RR mate. These are super rare now, I can't remember the last time I saw one on or off the road. Get some more pics up so we can see it in all its glory, or not as the case may be!

Firstly, I too would like to echo the other comments. Great attention to detail Fungus. And secondly; I really must get mine done. I need to remind Richard to get his done. The whole thing. Done. Martin, I'm still looking through my box of excuses!

I love Cortina's and this looks a very nice example. The colour, wheel choice and stance are bang on. You have every right to feel privileged to own this, I know I would.
