How do you control the idle speed on the electronic version, home brew box with a rheostat?
Reminds me of being an apprentice, one of the lads was great at electronics, he acquired an Audi 80 that wouldn't cold start, loads of garages had given up on it, and his dad used to get all the problem cars in the area as he ran a small business fixing stuff everyone had washed their hands of.
Anyway he quickly worked out the cold start injector wasn't getting any signals. So he cobbled up a box of tricks to replicate it all, if memory serves; it had an on/off switch and a couple of rheostats so you could manually control the idle air valve opening and mixture. Basically a manual choke, well it was what we were all used to 20years ago, fun times 😀 thanks for stirring the memory banks.

When you replace it, might be worth getting some of the plastic film protectors for the inside of the glass, or if tight like me use OHP transparency film (remember those days?....) and tape down on the edges to stop the dust getting in between it and the glass.

£50 buys an electric hoist off eBay that will do 200kg.
A winch rated at 4000lbs is for horizontal pull only, I wouldn't want to rely on one holding that weight in a vertical lift

I've been around imps and therefore ginettas for 20 years, never seen one with the lights up, in fact until the post above I never even knew they moved.

JB - still would like to find 1200 - 1500mm magna bend though (saving up for a new one currently has used ones virtually never come to the market) Sounds like a JB type challenge, bet he can knock one together with nothing more than a few old microwaves for the electro magnets and some flat plate.....

Sounds like something you might be able to adapt a Steve ward stepper indexer to control.

Probably be fine, if you just take it off that back bolt location, it not taking much weight, in fact it's in compression as the other two bolts are hanging the load anyway. if you use a countersunk bolt or recess a cap screw, you could leave more metal in-place and most likely just take the webs off?
Just have at it with a hacksaw and file and remove the minimum and see how it looks.

You can now get a signwritten van and park it opposite their drive for a daily reminder. Or apply for a billboard in the garden just for fun 😀

Is there any benefit of mounting the bowl flexibly so the trolley isn't damping it's movement?

You can do 28kg for £14 it seems through post office Or split it up to under 20kg parcels and send for £5.50 each Below is a screenshot when I searched for 'parcel courier uk'

I've used couriers that advertise on eBay in the past, sent stuff to Europe for less than you're being quoted.
It usually works by you buying a standard listing, then messaging the to and from details and the collection date, they sort the rest with a mainstream courier. I've done it a couple of times with no issues.

I know someone who couldn't get into a footwell when welding up a car, he taped a welding lense to a baseball cap and cracked on, got the job done and a fair bit of a suntan at the same time.

How critical is the application? I needed some a similar size recently and made my own from bike spokes, but piano wire is available in more variety of sizes. There are videos on YouTube on how to do it, the mandrel size is a bit trial and error.

Currently at the oldschool nationals and last night there was some brainstorming going on. Another member had come up with a solution so simple is laughable. I'll report back soon.... What about fitting the engine the wrong way around and taking the drive of the aux. end.........
