I joined in 2010. My first post was in 2016 This is my second post (special occasion). Happy birthday RR. Outstanding lurking That is some award-winning lurking skills. I heard a thing the other day that said we shouldn't refer to people as lurkers, but as 'learners' and I thought it was a nice sentiment... but lurking is an art that should not be downplayed

Haha, it’s actually my car, so I should know! Ahhh that's why I love the internet and this forum. How long have you had it? That is a most unusual car, even by VSCC standards

Congratulations 👏 I'm somewhat familiar with how you are feeling, coincidentally the 13th of May will be 20 years since I bought the MR2 and May last year was the 20th anniversary of the formation of the MR2 Owners Club UK and our original website. Clearly 2004 was a good year

The ‘woodie’ bit of the black car is as per the US woodies, unlike the Matford. The wood actually came from Fords own forest in upper Michigan before being shipped to the UK. This is exactly the sort of detail we live for

At 3:39pm today Retro Rides will officially be 20 years old, our very first thread is here : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/1It has been an interesting journey to get here, I could talk for days about it, but I shall be (unusually) brief and say this: Twenty years is a long time to be doing anything, but for online communities, it is doubly so. We're still here, talking cars, finding new things, experiencing all this together. There are names in threads that appear regularly that were here twenty years ago and names that only joined this week, that is the beauty of community. We've persisted through some odd combination of stubbornness, momentum, and a little magic despite the headwinds and occasional explosions. I look forward to seeing where we are twenty years hence. Now for some pictures, because all threads need pictures This is the homepage you would have received in 2004 And the first copy of the forum in the internet archive is from 2006 You can check out who was nominated and who won awards in the RR Awards 2004 here: web.archive.org/web/20060428033525/http://www.retro-rides.com/articles/rrawards2004.htmlGoing through these internet archive version of the site has given me some renewed thoughts on what I can do with Retro Rides in 2024 and I'm really excited for the possibilities still. There will be an RR20 celebration this summer and I'll be sharing info with Club RR and the Forum in due course. So half looking back today and half looking forward Much love to all the members, current, and former, and those we've lost along the way. -David

Its a Model 62, a European market oddity. I think they came with the half size V8-60 rather than the full size Flathead V8 and are closer to a Ford Pilot than their American cousins. I'm sure you've seen the brown one that floats around the custom car scene, puzzled over it at Wheels Day last year. I was pretty sure that is a Matford, I always tag it as such and no one has yelled at me yet, has a different headlight/wing arrangement than this black one though.

Hi there, Got today's email update and tried to submit my car for the Black Room, but the tab doesn't work. Can it be fixed? Thanks Oh that is unfortunate, it should be okay. Can you drop me an email david@retroridesevents.com and we'll get you sorted.

That's bizarre, had watched that channel this week👍 I really enjoyed the video although there is a moment where he comments on a guy chatting up hot girls in cars, and it is the guys daughter, and I cringed so hard I nearly pulled a muscle haha, rest of it is sound though.

A little something that got recommended to me by YT, this happened the week before Grand National Roadster Show and would make for a good weeks worth of shows if you are planning a US trip

Better late than never.
In fact I'd say the time taken to do the video has made for one of my favourite videos yet
Enjoy

Are the track action formats the same this year as last? Most likely yes, need to discuss if we do the half afternoon special stage again, I'm keen, but I want to make sure we get a few demo cars to do it as well to show how quick it can be done

Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Ahhh jetlag, the karmic backswing for having had an enjoyable time. Still I've got a whole bunch of photos from Grand National Roadster Show to finish editing and then we'll be onto publishing them, because it was pretty much the best static car show I've ever been to. However that isn't the biggest thing to happen this week. On the 16th Feb Retro Rides will be 20 years old, T W E N T Y years of this. The anniversary has kind of given me a renewed focus and I've got gradual plans to celebrate across the year. I'm also back on to layout/styling fixes this week, I did a little before I went on holiday, but I really need to knuckle down and get this all a bit tighter and more solid. How is everyone doing, hopefully surviving winter and the weather without going too crazy. Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/226436/chat-thread-big-week-wc

Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Well big week here at RR HQ, firstly we've got the Weekender website going live properly along with a whole bunch of announcements that go alongside that (including the paddock display themes). Then on Thursday I'm getting on a plane (all being well) and heading to the US of A and visiting the Grand National Roadster Show for the first time, which I'm very excited about. Expect photo thread to appear from that Lots of other bits and pieces going on, Quick60 update to out to last year's competitors, Club RR 2024 mail to go out in Feb (which needs somethings confirming before I send it), I've re-started the list of stuff that needs doing on here after the December problems I lost momentum for most of Jan. Car wise, I'm just driving the 996 and listening for random noises that are going to cost me money, and trying to not spend that money so I can afford to complete the Datsun in my life time. Hope everyone else has made it through January relatively unscathed. Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/226401/chat-thread-despite-wind-wc

£3.5k ... If those triangles are vinyl could be a bargain. Got the early 2000's VIP style about it.
