Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Ahhh jetlag, the karmic backswing for having had an enjoyable time. Still I've got a whole bunch of photos from Grand National Roadster Show to finish editing and then we'll be onto publishing them, because it was pretty much the best static car show I've ever been to. However that isn't the biggest thing to happen this week. On the 16th Feb Retro Rides will be 20 years old, T W E N T Y years of this. The anniversary has kind of given me a renewed focus and I've got gradual plans to celebrate across the year. I'm also back on to layout/styling fixes this week, I did a little before I went on holiday, but I really need to knuckle down and get this all a bit tighter and more solid. How is everyone doing, hopefully surviving winter and the weather without going too crazy. Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/226436/chat-thread-big-week-wc

I have this week off work, but for once I am not going anywhere and don't have anything planned. Time to recharge the batteries and perhaps do a little garage stuff.

I've been having a good car fortnight. Got loads of niggly bits on the Carlton sorted that's making it even more pleasant to waft about in. Went on a tat run when it snowed, did pretty well considering. Still curse word compared to small fwd hatchbacks but that's by the by. Then got our lasses car finished and MOT'd finally, then me and the little un gave the fleet a wash which was fun. Now upto 5 out of 10 working vehicles which is nice. Spotted a Rascal parked up, see it bobbing about all over the place local but never got a pic. Along with various other house jobs I've got done it now leaves me with free time to get cracked into the Carlton to get it something like for the Weekender.

Wow. 20 years. I still remember getting the PM over on Volkszone inviting me over here.... (in fact I just logged in over there to check if I still had it... but my inbox only goes back to 2007 )

After a mere 8 years I finally made the light covers for inside the boot of the Princess. All held in place with velcro, which has proven itself to be remarkably effective. No more fear of accidentally snagging a wire, not that it's actually happened over the last eight years but I'm sure it was only a matter of time. I've probably proven that you can indeed use cake tins with no ill effect too, worked great for frenching the Galaxie lights into the back panel and haven't gone rusty or shown any signs of cracking or similar since installing them all that time ago.

A little something that got recommended to me by YT, this happened the week before Grand National Roadster Show and would make for a good weeks worth of shows if you are planning a US trip

That's bizarre, had watched that channel this week👍
20 years, wow!! Great work, think I joined in 2007. I will be honest I do drift on and off most forms of online activity but RR remains a "go to" when I do browse all things automotive.

Picked up a sandblasting cabinet and larger air compressor last weekend, I'm hoping I can get a part or two through it soon. I've been hankering for one for evvveeeeerrrrr.
20 years is amazing, prior to here my brother and I would frequent Migweb as we were largely aligned with boxy Vauxhalls through our formative teen years, usually with turbo engine conversions, joined here because I saw (and bought) a Nova saloon for sale less than a week after I passed my test even that was 13 years ago, jesussss where does the time go?

That's bizarre, had watched that channel this week👍 I really enjoyed the video although there is a moment where he comments on a guy chatting up hot girls in cars, and it is the guys daughter, and I cringed so hard I nearly pulled a muscle haha, rest of it is sound though.

Congrats to RR for 20 years Didn't join until 2006 so a couple of years to go before I have a 20 yr anniversary on RR I joined because there wasn't enough Opel content but One Marque forums were graveyards in comparison to RR It's still one of the most active forums still going with daily content that's worth visiting to read - most of the forums I used to use have either shut down or migrated to Facebook where they have effectively died anyway Anyway need to leave a picture here Wheels and a drop right OK the tyres were a bit oversize but it was the right idea

I'm collecting parts for a couple of projects which I'm not ready to go into details on but parts hunting is fun.
I'm also looking at doing some different motorsports as while I do like drag racing (RWYB only really) I'd like to branch out a bit. Certain stuff going on in my life reminds me we don't have forever.
So expect more comings and goings on my fleet this year.
I could update the threads on them but various cars have had various little bits of this and that done. Rover rad got sludged up and was overheating, the Hawk was running badly, the Minor was stuck in the mud and now I broke a seat frame in it....
Disappointingly I have had to return the bumpers off the Hawk to the platers as I wasn't happy with them. We will see how that goes.
Managed to make it to a couple of small scale (ish) local meets, will post pics when I get time to get them off the camera.

Happy anniversary RR. I look back at all the forums I’ve belonged to in the last twenty-odd years and most them are mere shadows of their former selves.
In car news, I decided the truck has to go. Bittersweet really, since I’ve owned it since 2007 and the wife drove it, our son drove it, and now I drive it. We nailed down our move to Florida and since I’ll be working from home and wifey is retired, one car will do us for now. Gonna be living vicariously through y’all’s projects for a while.

Had to come by and say well done on 20 years, coincidentally the same amount of time I've owned my Anglia. I joined in 2009.

Realised yesterday that today is the 12 year anniversary of owning the Princess. It was my daily back then and while other cars have come and gone, it's once again my daily now. It has been an adventure.
