I got bored. I mean, a red strat? Where's the fun in that? Satin black, that's more like it Hmm, annoyingly bland scratchplate Stuyizz just happened to have some paint kicking about Watching paint dry is so dull. But it paid off Check out the sparkle . More when I get something done

Oooh. I'[ve just bought a similarly bland Strat copy (it is already black though) and the paint is chipped in places; I've pondered repainting it in a slightly more interesting fashion. What paint did you use? What sort of prep? Did you strip it back much? It's just obviously the paint is pretty thick, so where it's chipped there's quite a difference in thickness.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

It's just halfords satin black. The paint was chipped in places, so I sanded them smooth and gave the rest a light sanding so the paint had something to stick to

I'll side with you on the scratchplate, my telecaster has the same style and its horrendously dull.

It's still better than the original that was on it. It got hot in the sun and went curly and saggy ;D

You just inspired me to dig the strat out of the wardrobe and have a play with it. Thank you ;D I'd forgotton how nice it is.
Any update? What sort of strat was it before you started? I kinda like the look you are getting, but don't want to do that to mine. I like the faded and dented olympic white and the fact that the pickup covers and scratchplate age differently. It looks like it's earned it's tone. I suppose 20 years is a long time for a guitar.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

No update yet, I'm waiting for some new saddles to arrive before I re-assemble it. It was an old Korean Squier that I've had for ages. Think it's an early one as far as Korean Squiers go, never seen another quite like it. Love the sound of your strat, got any pics? You can't beat a bit of patina, my Jag and my Tele have aged nicely

Took some pics for you. It's a '92 Fuji-gen Japanese Squier - serial number puts it in the same batch as the "Wayne's World" model that everyone on harmony central seems to love. Electrics, however are *not* squier. Pickups came from a '65 Fender strat that had an unfortunate accident some years ago. I'm doing a bit of recording this evening - I got a Boss Micro BR digital studio on ebay, does 4 track recording (32 virtual tracks), guitar and vocal effects, programmable drum machine, converts to MP3 to upload straight to PC, even has a tuner built in... it's the walkman sized silver box I might stick something on youtube later, depends how I get on.

www.myspace.com/sweetindica1Right, This is my old band. Listen to Elegant. Really ropey recording, but this is both of the guitars I've built. The rhythm part is my Telecaster, and the lead is that Strat.

Right then. I decided to sell the strat and after listing it on egay 3 times and not getting a single bid ,the saturday boy at work decided he wanted to buy it. Simple enough you'd think..............................no. He didn't like the colour, he wanted it white, but after all the work I put in last time, I couldn't be bothered to paint it again. Enter the mighty Fablon. Nabbed a new scratchplate from the spares drawer Jobs a goodun. He absolutely loves it ;D
