Good lad, keep the spirits up, and glad you survived that.
If you're going to sell the shell, try to keep it rolling, and advertise it somewhere that the Irish rally builders can see it. Starting to get scarce now over here, and there is no slow-up in demand.

I watched hardly any track action and totally missed that this had happened until someone mentioned it later on in the day. Glad to hear you came out of it OK. Bring on RRG 2011 I say ;D Yes! I hope you can bring a fresh monster machine

Declan has a reputation for being one of the gents and it seems well deserved.
Massive shame about the escort fella. Looked a nice one too.

I'm so impressed you're looking on this not as a disaster but as an opportunity, I'm not sure I'd have the same enthusiasm in your shoes!
Excellent to see your rollcage did the job it was designed to do, that you got out of it in once piece and that there is at least something salvagable of the old Escort. You know that in a place like this anything you don't put to use someone else most definitely will on their project.

Was paying close attention to your lap as I saw you were pushing it to your and the car's limits, had my camera in hand and took pictures of you going through the hairpin as I expected it to go wrong there.. As you managed to pass the hairpin I lowered the camera and said to Thomas (The Docter) who was standing next to me.. "This is going to be the fastest lap, if......he doesn't crash it..." and then you did..
We were happy to see you climbing out ok, but Gutted about the car.. but what you say it's only metal..
Will upload the four pics I took of you going through the hairpin just before the crash tonight and post them here.
I hope you are able to find a good replacement shell to put the mechanics in.. hopefully you fetch some money selling the shell to rallying irishmen, and are able to source a decent replacement... (cortina? mk3 escort? sunbeam? mk1 escort poly shell?) Good luck recovering and keep us posted!

RRG 2010 for me was completely summed up by the skill of your driving and the unfortunate crash I was so glad to see someone giving their pride and joy a real thrashing around a track, something that isn't seen very often especially on something that regrettably was that nice. Massive props from me and best of all so glad to see that your alright and taking it so well!

As everybody else has said dude... at least your ok! I was a bit worried you might be hurt (and kill me) when I turned round and saw the escort flying towards me upside down and pretty much land 8 foot from my feet!
Your run was looking awesome ujp to that point, real shame it ended like that! Good luck with what ever you do with it, as you took it on the chin and were very level headed after wards, now sure many of us could of been so cool

See what i did there

As terrible as the crash was, as I zoomed in on my long lens to see you clamber out I couldn't help but chuckle that the chap from Haynes driving the first car on the scene was on crutches

The strange thing for me was I'd only just started to chat to you, and it was great to finally meet you in real life, a real nice guy. before I did my last lap we were talking and you said you were pushing it hard, my thoughts were you were keeping it clean compared to the driftin'showboaters of the day (who were making it look easy and quite dodgem like harmless fun), With plenty confidence in your ability and the mighty Mk2 set up (I drove a rally one at speed off road last year) I wasn't worried too much. However maybe I'd not paid as much attention as I thought, specially since you were the fastest of the day! Just seemed strange that it happened there with you being a seasoned trackdayer/racer? And also cos other people were taking more risks - it looked like anyway. I only saw the skid out and then the car teeter on to 2 wheels and then unbalance right over onto the roof, slow-mo really ...Thinking about it, it must have kicked out at the back on the limit following past the cone chicane and forced ya turning towards the grass! unlike a corner where wheels would break out expectedly, the cone area felt mostly easy to navigate through, so you'd not expect it to break out there. So maybe too much turn/juice out of the cones? It was hot/muggy, and we were all tired and these things come with the territory, you already said you know that, hence the good attitude, you took it all really well and as a result of al this you are CROWNed Track attacker of the year at RRG2010 Glad you escaped without physical injury, health is most valuable thing. Good luck on rebuild, interested to see what ya do.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
