So as many of you might know I might have made a complete hash of things on the track at RRG and made rather a mess of the Escort....  Anyway Declan (Cpt Sideways) not only showed everyone how to control a car properly (which I think we should all thank him for ;D  ) but he also became a total saint in my eyes by taking the wreck home and giving up his time to help out a lesser driver! So can I just put him forward as not just a member of the month but a member of the year as anyone going that far beyond the call of duty deserves a medal! So for probably not the last time Thank you As for those interested in the Escort, its pretty much had it. Not sure what will be done, but I'll probably strip it down for parts and sell the shell to the rally guys who'll think its worth spending a fortune on to pull straight (the more I've looked at it, the more twists, bends and messed up bits of metal I see) Oh and if anyone is worried about putting up photos or videos, don't be! I want to see what the heck I did wrong! I already know I'm an idiot so the proof won't make me feel worse! Andy |

Andy, i think i speak for everyone when i say my heart dropped to the floor along with my mouth when it happened. The main thing is your ok, whatever you decide to do i'm we'll all be behind you, we need to see your enthusiasm on the track again next year When it was pushed out we were stood around looking at it in disbelief and, as you say, finding more and more kinks and dents in it. probably a good job you didn't buy Dave's steels though. |

we are all just glad your ok mate. everybody can get it wrong once in a while and you were one of the guys everybody was looking forward to seeing going round the track . I'm pretty sure i made way more errors driving round that track than you ever will I'm a drag racer after all i don't normally do corners ;D. hope you get back up and mobile again soon look forward to seeing what you come up with for its replacement.

It is absolutely gutting to have to pull apart something you've built  I scrapped a 106 rally car I had completely bareshell rebuilt on one of the first few events I did after the build - just recently stripped it for parts and still felt the anguish of looking at it's poor mangled state Still, cars can be replaced, people can't!! - glad to hear you are fine! |

Thanks for the condolences guys, as said the important thing is I'm fine (neck is even only a touch stiff), and the car is only bits of metal - afterall what use is a toy if it doesn't get played with as intended! There are no big plans for exactly what will rise from the ashes, but it's likely to be an old ford using all the same running gear which at 1st glance seems to have survived pretty much ok. Probably not an Escort I as I personally think they're over priced for what they are now! There are a lot of memories in the car (more than I'll ever tell probably ), but the only thing left of the car from when I bought it was the shell and a little bit of interior stuff. Plus it was never the cleanest or best shell - patchwork quilt is an understatement!  But that was the point, I built her to be used and abused in full knowledge that one day (yesterday as it happened) I'd have a big off. It not the 1st that car has had, and its almost certainly not the last I'll have......lol I'm not into building a perfect car when it might end up smashed, if I did that I'd never use it to its full potential. Plus I'm hoping to have the other projects turn into the polished cars, my track car will always be nothing more than solid, reliable and fun, if it happens to polish up nice it's a bonus ;D and mebbe this time I'll build something I can race a bit too.
