Well after zipping around on my NRG for a couple of months, I wanted to upgrade to something with gears, and more power. I oo and err'd about what to get, then these bikes caught my eye. I'm very pleased with it, love having more power, and the gears make it much more fun. Had a awful trip home from picking it up though - if you give it some stick the choke slowly closes off, I'm guessing due to a worn spindle thingy. Took me many swears words, kickstarts, and breaking down to figure it out. Sorted with cable ties for now. Mudguards and exhaust could do with changing, chrome is pitted. No real rush though. Overall not a bad bike Have a pic, more to come once its all cleaned up

Cheers bud! Yeah I love it, and have heard nothing but praise for them. I was amazed to find Honda even give you a tool kit hidden in a little cubby hole ;D I'll have a look now!

Well, went out for my maiden ride on Friday and an hour into it the rear tire blew out while I was doing 70 on a dual carriageway Luckily, I didnt come off and pushed the bike 2 or 3 miles to a shop and had a new inner tube and rear tire fitted, and picked up some oil and a new spark plug, and gave the bike a well overdue service once I got home. Seems much better for it. Just finished cleaning it, and here are some better photo's:

These are fantastic machines, without doubt the best 125 you could get. Reliable, fantastic on fuel and enough poke to get you around. The only problem I ever had was the common rotten exhaust syndrome but no biggie. Millions of Chinese replicas were built on the original design of these and yet I bet none of them ever came close. You'r seems quite a late one, is it Brazilian?

Yeah I really do enjoy riding it, alot of people complain in reviews about them being not very powerful but I find it fine, easily gets to 50 - 60. I've had 75 out of it ;D Yeah the exhaust needs changing ideally, as do the mudguards. Just before I change the exhaust I want to chop the end off, to see if it makes any difference to performace. I couldnt say about it being Brazilian - I'm not to up on these bikes just yet, although it does have "Made in Japan" stamped on the engine. Little question: How much play should I have in the chain? I've adjusted it to about 3/4 inch play in the middle of the longest run.

Chopping the end of the pipe off won't make any odds, except perhaps to tell the cops to pull you over! You used to be able to get pattern exhausts (and probably mudguards) quite cheaply for these but been out of the bike scene a while now. As regards the chain I *think* the acceptable limit is about half an inch of play but again could be wrong.

3/4 inch a little tight 1" would be fine, too tight and you'll wreck the gearbox as the chain tightens up a bit when you sit on the bike or go over a bump. Each bike is a little different.

I had one of these as my first bike - it was an 87 in met purple. did about 100 to the gallon till the tank split!
It was quicker than the CB125 twin that replaced it when it got stolen!

The fuel comsumption amazes me - I've only filled it up once and its still going a over week later, after doing at least 20 miles a day! Far better than my NRG!

So are you selling the NRG ?
Those CG's are some of the best bikes out there, pretty much bullet proof.

Hi mate, don't want to upset the apple cart here as I could be wrong but i'm 99% sure thats not a a genuine Honda its a Hongdu or some such - the rocking gear lever mechanism is the give away - they used to come into the country boxed with badges to say they were a Honda but you (the dealer) weren't supposed to fit them, nothing wrong with them they're good bikes but chances are any parts you get will be wrong if you order for a Honda CG
