I'd buy a few nice dailys. I'd probably get an E39 M5, Renault Avantime. All the newer cars I want but can't afford. I'd also tick off all the cars on my list. Porsche 928, Audi S8, Audi WR Quattro, Lancia Delta HF, mk2 escort RS2000.
I'd probably also get a replica of my first mk5 Cortina but with E34 m5 Running gear.
Because I wouldn't be working I'd get myself all the gear and put myself on a restoration and painting course, which is what I'd do inbetween hanging out in my Pad in Sanfrancisco and cruising on my super yacht on the med.

I'd probably buy / keep the sort of stuff I have now, but my options would be much wider. I'd also build a kick-ass workshop. Hear hear! Plenty of cars in the 5-50k bracket I'd love that are currently well out of my reach but wouldn't break the bank with a small windfall.

Nope, I have plenty of automotive ambition. When I'm rich, my savings accounts will look like: Pre-War Frazer-Nash racer: Porsche 911 Martini Turbo: Mercedes W123 560E - don't think I'll ever be able to shake this one off: Sunbeam Tiger: Gaudy '59 Impala Lowrider: G55 AMG: Sh!tted up Aston Martin DB4 GT:

I don't think liking 'cheap' cars is a lack of ambition. I'm doing a degree in vehicle design and I'm far more interested in cheap daily cars, simple vehicles such as bicycles, and (dare I say it) public transport than I am in any V12 engined monsters. To my mind, it's not hard to make a car that costs upwards of £100,000, or even £40k, special. If a car that costs (as new) £6 or 7k is special, then that's a far more exciting piece of design.

No lack of ambition but i'd certainly start small.
I think its a mistake if you win and go stright for the veyron or simular as it'll cheapen every lesser car you own from then.So therefore i'd probally start with a mint mk3 spitfire or sprite, austin 7 etc

Haha i'm glad this thread has caused some discussion.
I think I agree withmwhat a couple of people have said, if I came into money I wouldn't work so I could just plug away at a project and build the crusty Fords i've got built in my head!

I do like old cars, and prefer them, but for goodness sakes lads, if someone handed me 10 mill the third thing I'd do is go find myself a V12 Ferrari.
It's not a crime y'know.

It's not a crime y'know. no its not a crime to like Ferrari's but its also not compulsory and i for one have never really been all that struck on them. pretty but badly made and over rated. I think i spent to many years working on over priced prestige classics back when i did the old restoration work i proffered doing custom work on more normal cars to make them more unique

If your my size you cant get comfy in most of em, but they do sound lovely, lots of money would allow access to soem nice bits of kit in the salvage yards i reckon, with all the tools and a workshop to build stuff.

I believe I have automotive ambition. This is infact a conversation Janie, Janies dad and myself have on a very regular basis. Theres a hell of a lot of cars I need to own before I'm too old to enjoy them, One of the first things I'd buy would be a mid 60's - mid 70's fullsize 'sedan', be it an Olds' or Buick or a fusulage styled something or other, it would obviously be packing many, many cubes making it obscenly rapid whilst still carrying 8 people I would have a 'bomb' of some description, probably a Packard SuperEight or DoubleSix, and I'd have the '52 and '38 back from their current owner. I like the idea of buying an established restoration business to work on your own cars and learn whilst there, it'd be nice to have those sort of skills on the payroll Oh, and the Escort would be rather special if I had money to play with.

I suppose I probably agree with you in a sense. The only problem I have is the fact that when I see most people driving modern supercars I pretty much immediately just assume they're a knob with not much interest in cars. However if you see someone in a 600hp Volvo 240, with custom everything thats cost the same amont I would think he was cool! I suppose its less about the cash and more about the attitude.

I have bucket loads of ambition, it just so happens that ambition revolves around older shaped cars and bringing together all that I like into a particular unique package and if I had the money then I'd still do the same things - but to a higher standard than circumstance allows now - XJR V8 engined Mk1 Granada Coupe or an LS400 powered CROWN Custom Coupe anybody? but to the same extent a perkins prima engined A60 countryman has a strange appeal and were time/space/money not constraining factors they'd be built along with a 101 other slightly leftfield ideas. It's not that I have anything against supercars, as a left hooker GT3 for pounding across europe would be cool, but such thing just wouldn't reach the top of my list compared to a creation that came from deep recesses of my imagination.

So many cars I want to build. Triumph Vitesse convertible with a tuned TR6 lump in it is next on the list after the Avenger is done. Need some kind of van in my life too. And a V8 at some point, or a 6 cylinder BMW, an E3 like my dad had would be cool. What's the difference between a desire and an ambition?

I'd build a huge workshop and fill it with old yanks, lowriders and more or less what I buy now. The only supercar would be a Countach because of a boyhood dream even though they're silly and not very good (is it wrong to like them even more now I know they're curse word?) I'd also have a decent mk3 Cortina
