Sounds like some good points there.
Jizzy, this one has electronic ignition, would that be the same dzzy as the one you mean?
I would want to make a good job of it, the kind of job you wouldn't guess it wasn't a factory install if you didn't know in the first place. 10MPG I think you have made up my mind about not getting a Rover. I heard the 302 stuff was cheap but that is much less than I expected.
Plus, how many times has it come up? "ooh a V8 conversion!" "Oh, its just a rover"
Not knocking them but just want something a bit special.

we put a rv8 into a cf2 years ago and it was an easy swap with only a tiny biy if trimming/ bashing needed, so a 302 should almost fall in there

My personal main issue with the rover V8 is its not BIG enough, 3.5 (or 4 litre) just aint as good as 5.7 (or whatever you pick)

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

This has been quite illuminating really. I never knew Ford 302 bits were so cheap.
Also, I had a BW35 for AGES and couldn't give it away. I tried everywhere locally and no - one was interested. Weighed it in in the end.
Still have the torque converter if anyone's interested. Not wanting any money for it.
Sorry - shoot me if I get too far off topic.

Not done a conversion as such but have fitted a 940 turbo engine into my 240 (same shape block and head but still took some thinking about. The Van in this case is a Bedford CF, I know a v8 will fit because I have seen it done (or mocked up at least) and I know its been done many times before. I would never get the payoff in performance vs work carried out from the current engine (I have considered supercharging (eaton M90 I have spare) and other engine swaps Jeep inline 6, turbo diesels, volvo inline 6 24v etc) Pics nicked from Aqua Genius (hope thats ok Ade) And while I'm at it I can convert to PAS too. ;p No problem mike. pas is possible , on www.bedfordcf.co.uk/powersteering.htm there a link to a guy thats fitted a transit power steering rack to his van. shows pics and the such. over in the land of aussies on www.buga.com/au they use porsche steering racks. with the bedford cf , the more central the engine the better it will handle , my mate wobbly bob runs a 7.5 ltr blown big block jensen engine mid mounted and reckons it handles like a scalectrix car. my engine is mounted as low as I can get it to the crossmember. theres a huge amount of space under a bedford cf . ade ;D

I keep hearing how "easy" it is to get a Lexus V8 in your ride and how "easy" they make big power. Well, I have a Lexus V8 in my Lexus and its a mighty fine engine to be sure. However I wouldn't want to try transplant it into anything else. Big, frighteningly complex and such. What is this "plug and play" conversion you speak of? My Lexus needs to have its ECU "recalibrated" when you change the tyres! These things are scary computer-intensive. not a 1991-93 ish 1 surely,

Nope, as per sig its a 1999. But they all are quad cam, multi valve, computer controlled beasties. Maybe thats all fine if you understand all that stuff I just plain don't. I like old school engines I can work on easily. For a daily, I like the Lexus 'cos it does 0-60 in 6.7 and still does mid 20s MPG with the air con on and the leather and sat nav and all. But I'm not going to try modify it in any way. I suspect when people say how easy it is to do stuff, a lot of times they say so because they never tried it themselves...

AKKU, you got me wanting another LS again. I would be happy with a 96 though. Before they went interference and VVTI and dropped the belt change interval by 1/3 of the previous life.
