Ive got 4 tapes that say 'digital 8' and 'hi-8' on them, I know that there is a load of footage from Santa Pod from years ago on them as well as a few videos me and my mates made of us larking about in my Capri and an old Silvia turbo years ago. Id love to see them again and maybe edit them a bit for youtube etc.. problem is the camcorder went years ago - also I seem to remember them having green lines across when I last watched them, would that have been the camcorder knackered or the tapes? Anyone know the cheapest way I could get something to watch them on and or transfer them to the computer? I know theres a load of cool stuff on them - I remember there is a race between me and my mate (capri and silvia) and a good few burnouts! ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) It'd be great to see them again and edit to show you lot too!

i THINK there are some big video tapes you can shove the smaller tapes in to watch them in a video recorder (if you still have one of those things ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ). To import them to your pc, you'd need a camcorder i think.

wasnt there an old yellow pages add where some bint was finding someone to transfer old tapes to DVD? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I doubt it would cost much to get em done, might be cheaper than buying the gear.

I saw them but I don't want to send them off I want to do it myself and cant find anything other than sending them away or buying an old camcorder for £50 plus. Just though someone might know of an easy way before I spend more money than I have to ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

There's a couple of camera's started at around £15 with no bids, one's at 99pence. I'd be tempted to bag a cheap one off Ebay to transfer them then stick it back on again.

Yep. buy another camera off ebay etc, or better still ask around and borrow one from a family member/friend. Digitising analogue footage is not straight forward though. again ebey or a PC shop could net you an analogue in video capture card but they didn't used to be cheap. Ya could record into your DVD/hd recorder too if you have one and then muck about in the computer. This is prob the sort of service I should offer to get some funds back! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) You do realise now you've made an O/T thread you need to bring back the finished vid for us ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

![](http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff16/stoppitandtidyup/Avatars%20etc/reansigys.jpg) it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

It is worth noting that 3 different camcorder formats managed to use the same tapes ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) super 8, hi8 and digital 8. You need to remember which sort your camcorder was and buy one the same format to ensure playback....
