Hi guys, I been neglecting RR recently due to college, work and personal stuff getting in the way. Anyway on with the post...... Basically the Sierra has run out of MOT and atm I can't afford to fix it. So I needed a cheap runabout so I swapped the dull as ditch water Fiat Punto I got given for a VW Taro. It's a 1.8 Petrol and its 2WD with a live rear axle ;D The Taro is basically a rebadged Hilux, even the key has Toyota engraved into it So its not a real Dub! ;D Anyway some pics (sorry I only picked it up last night)........ They are 5 stud, are they 114.3? Plus anyone know how to lower theses? Opinions and ideas welcome!!!!

Wow, never seen one of those before, how very odd. I guess the rear axle is below the leaf springs, could probably flip it above the leaves to lower it? Then just chop the front springs and head off to your local Dub meet. Should be fun

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

rich and the doctor are both right, re-mount the rear axle on the right side of the springs , then fit some lowering blocks, should get you about 150mm out the back end, and chop ,oh about half the front springs out, I'm sure there used to be dropped spindle kits available for the hi lux back in the mini truckin day.
very cool ride, i do love a good pick up.

oh, we had a Taro as a company workhorse in the in the ninetys, be careful driving anything else then a straight line in the wet; and put 1000 kgs on the back, as the suspension is rock hard,if the car is empty. Also, on LHD cars it was very painful getting in and hitting the knee on the handbrake lever... VW was putting them together from CKD kits just how to learn lean production from the japanese.....

They are 114.3x5! I trial fitted some 17" three spokes off a R33 Skyline. They look awesome Also the suspension at the front is torsion bars, I'll wind the bastards down soon enough. The rear axle is already on top of the axle, so lowering blocks ahoy! Yay! Toymota Lolux! Like that Robin, what does SWMBO think to your swappery? She likes it LOL!

Lose a couple of leaves out the back too, will soften the ride and give you extra SLAMMAGE!
good swapping skills
