I came by this car by a friend of mine who left it standing after the bushes, brakes and front shocks all gave up. He said he'd rather I had it than it was scrapped.
Apart from the aforementioned problems it needs some TLC including a good clean, a bit of welding and rust treatment and some hitting with the stick using parts from my current saloon, with the wheels and tyres, polybushed suspension parts Bilstien HD shocks and -40mm lowering springs, and all new brakes (on the friction side of things) It has a b200f normally aspirated engine (1998cc) Bosch Lh2.4 jetronic
Its also going to get a nice overhauled 1995 2.3 8 valve turbo engine. For now it will have the standard turbo and intercooler and run at stock (or maybe zero) boost until the engine is run in. Although the engine has covered 270,000 miles it was still running ok when removed from the car if a little smokey and oily.
There are many cheap ways to get more oomph out of this engine without too much trouble, and I have a 16v head and m90 supercharger waiting for their time to be put into action.
I plan to alter my stock panhard rod to make it adjustable and I would like to fit 25mm wheel spacers too but £££. I also want to fit another set of antiroll bars too and have two sets for super flat cornering and less understeer/more oversteer. I'm going to file the top mount holes to gain a little more camber on the front to prevent outer ende tyre wear.
The car will also be getting an lsd diff unit. A thing I found long ago and kept for this purpose.
Anyway, on with the pics
The car, it's now moved out over the pit under a shelter.
A bit rusty here and round the rear arches.
The engine is a B230fk (from a 1995 Volvo 940 turbo) 2318cc 4cyl with garrett t25 @7psi (can run upto 12psi safely with standard setup)
Bosch Lh2.4 fuel injection and EZK117 ignition. I Have the ecus from the engine doner car so I just remove the b200f ecus and plug in the b230fk ones.
Head, its a standard 8v volvo head (casting 1000 530)
Spot the difference.
That'll do me, I'll wash it and dry it with the airline then oil it before reassembly.
Inlet manifold
I'll get the injectors cleaned and tested before I reassemble.
Block.
Getting it, had to strip it to a shortblock to get it in the car, the head was already off and it was on a pallet so it didn't take long.
It has been under a tarp for about 2 years so looks a bit shoddy at the moment.
Piston oil squirters.
Gave it a scrub.
Got some nice new brakes.
And some .60mm oversize pistons.
I have got to send the block of to be rebored and have the crank ground, I have the bearings and most of the seals and gaskets I need, and a friend has sold me a cheap t25 that I can run for now.
I am going over to work on the car this weekend so I will take the camera and get some pictures.
More to come soon.
