Mystery machine seems to be on the money mesh on bonnet etc, remember that Astra? something like that but with a few less OTT creative things. also look a stuff like that Army beetle van thing cos its awesome. Good luck woth it soldier

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I love it. sans the purple things in the middle of the rims. I even like the rear lights now.
But you need steel rims, if I recall correctly the brand new fiestas have 16" steels with 4x108 pattern and look kinda cool.
A big ass crower logo on the rear wing/door would look imersly cool, altough you'd need some crower parts in the engine then ;D

Haha, I can't belive how this car changed since I was talking to you at RR07.
I don't think you ever saw my Sierra in person, but yours is totally starting to remind me of it. Same stance, wheels and general look. (though mine had shiney galaxy blue paint, all be it a bit swirly and dented)
I say screw the negative comments, at the end of the day it depends what you want out of it. If you want a nice car you need to look after alot - then it was better before. If you want a car you can have fun in, learn new skills, and not worry about so much - you've got it. The difference between a car enthusiast and a driving enthusiast.

Hmmm.....controversial this one, looked great before in the gold and in the pics the paint looks a little shonky, probably needs a second maybe even third coat. Ultimately I like the NATO look(would like to do the volvo in time!) but for me, and this is a personal opinion I'd add the stencilling(tyre pressures FTW but go with high gloss black wheels and diamond cut rim in 17".

If you want a car you can have fun in, learn new skills, and not worry about so much - you've got it. The difference between a car enthusiast and a driving enthusiast. Can't you be both? I drive the Manta hard and sideways but it's still clean. Just because you like to push the envelope doesn't mean the car has to look like it's en route to the weighbridge. With that said - Robin - if you are intent on keeping it like this I'd definitely go with some stencilling. It needs detail because at the moment the overall colour has washed it out. How about Cyrillic for the cold war look? www.linotype.com/109298/stencilcyrillicregular-font.htmlLook at some photographs of real cold war MIG and Sukhoi fighters for inspiration. Or for something really unique how about riveting? It could work if you do it neatly with small rivets but it would take forever and probably end up killing the car over the years Like so: www.b-domke.de/AviationImages/Fitter-K.htmlI think that whatever you do, shiny wheels are a must. Did you sell the Saab wheels? Needs something with a polished rim at the very least IMO to lift it a little

sorry, to say this as I think the Nato look can work on some cars but that just makes your car look like a scrapper, or a drift slag, if it had looked like a real scrapper before I would be applauding your efforts but turning a smart looking car that definatly had an 'edge' into this? = LOSE imho.....

As a Sierra in nato green, I like it. But to learn it was the very same sierra in your signature lessens it for me. What happened to the saab rims? Good job though, overall I like it

I prefer to make my cars as decent as possible and do the best I can with them. But when I first had the Sierra, I did appreciate the fact I could chuck her around without worrying one bit - and I think I learned faster that way. Robin, it was re-styled because of some damage right? I think if it was done just for the sake of it - it wasn't the best of moves. But if it was the coice between a mega spend out to restore it, or just do this - fair play.

Needs some metal to break it up, it looks almost unreal (in the literal sense) with those lights and wheels.

Robin, it was re-styled because of some damage right? Yes mate, the car had a black wing due to a sideways misadvanture into a telegraph pole, I bent one of the Saab rims beyond repair by hotting it against the curb (again sideways) and the car had generally pick up various knocks since last year, not all of them my fault. Like I said it's not really finished (will it ever be?) the green has just given me a blank canvas to do whatever I feel like and not worry about it. Plus the matt black RS rims will be gone soon promise ;D

Just an idea, and a quick PShop lash-up, but I reckon it could look smart on white wheels: FWIW, while I think it looked smart in gold, I dunno if the photos flattered it and I reckon given another coat of matt green this could look even better

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

I like what it will become, but liking it at the moment mate, i'm afraid.
If you decide to go for the cyrillic cold-war stencilling gizza shout, i'll knock something up in proper russian.

i liked it a lot before, made me look at sierras differently, rudely almost. needs some saab rims back on now though, its not so nice. however, that makes it controversial, which is a good thing, especially on RR i agree with the majority that it needs something such as stencils to break it up. someone pshop those saab rims back on. i think those may work.

I always liked it in gold as I've had a couple of GLSi sierras and really liked them. However, I think with a bit of detailing in terms of brighter wheels and some stencilling, it will look pretty good.
