I saw a negative comment on another forum (clue: retro-orientated, and it appears to be a 'club') saying the mag is too RR-biased and refers to 'cronies'. 1) Since when had a high RR content been a bad thing?
2) I've been on this forum for over 3 yrs and have yet to see a crony.
3) Why doesn't the person concerned grow up and get a life!

I thought the same thing moggyman, I do frequent the same forum. Sounded a little like sour grapes to me, but could be wrong

Personally I think it is too RR oriented, but I'm sure it won't be in the future. It won't survive for very long if it just tells people about things they can find out about for free.
As for cronyism... well thats not true, but its pretty inevitable we'd be influential, we're the biggest forum. Its like Volkszone has an influence on the VW magazines. Which is probably why we are represented in the first issue.

LOL! Funny, prob best I didn't see that on there. Personally I think it is too RR oriented, but I'm sure it won't be in the future. I agree here, can't put into words what I think cos would come across bad, kinda cliquey or dare I say 'sceney' ;D I dunno I can just imagine people who are into old (retro) cars but not fannying around on computers all day, more fixing bread and butter/building rods for customers, day by day, I'm not sure what they'd make of it maybe they think its fantastic. all I guess I saying, before I got on forums I was just a guy who liked old cars with character, not part of a scene if you gets me, and that will be some of the readers IMO. Great do, I like the pics, the mixed features, and hells even a Sierra is in there! plastic bumpers shock horror! ;D Most of all I like the fact it was pulled kicking and screaming from the dead, which is definately my thing so on that score, Will buy the next few as promised, and really hope RC mag finds its own feet. keep up the good work...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Not hugely surprising though, given that iirc they had an extremely cosy relationship with the RC of old, which was also reflected in the difference between the semi-official 'farewell from Retro Cars' posts that were made over there & on here.....

It was just one guy and frankly not a suprise... I was suprised how much RR stuff was in there.. but its great to see people in print, so is all good. We didn't have a cosy relationship with the second half of Retro Cars original run,... you know, the bit where it went down hill ..

but its great to see people in print, so is all good. Agreed....means alot that people feel it is worth using expendable mediums to talk about someone...rather than a bit of server space

Like I said, I see no cronies on here. At the end of the day, RR is the biggest forum of its kind. Fact. If the individual concerned doesn't like that, then send some pics into the mag, don't curse word about things. We're all supposed to be on the same side, this slagging of other forums helps no-one.

There is an email addy to contact RC's circulation distributor if you cannot find the magazine. It's published inside the very first issue. Chicken & Egg perhaps? Should I post up the email addy, or should the torture continue unabated? We report. You decide.
