My daily hack, not sure you could ever get these in the UK as 300 Turbo diesel Estates were all LHD as far as I know. Great car cheapest I have ever bought, probably the slowest from a standing start too ;D Needs some work before I can get it through the next MOT, called 'EU kontroll' over here - only needs testing every second year too ;D plan to be getting on with these jobs soon, anybody got any advice about getting the front suspension apart, seems like I need some kind of special tool to compress the coil springs as the usual claw type spring compressor thingies don't fit.

Also nice. Lucky sod with the turbo! You're right, no blown diseasels over here. That said, I'm happy with only 88bhp! Oldbus might be handy for Merc advice if others are not forthcoming. Lots of Merc lovers here though...

hello, nice tdt. there is a right hand drive turbo diesel not 10 miles from me. often see it about, but most of the time its sat in a showroom, along with a W126 SEC of some variety and a bmw csl. i think mrstigma has pics. you can use the regular claw type compressors on the springs, you'll need three though and it is a curse word. utterpiffle did a thread on how to make a very good tool for spring removal, but i cant find it.

Cool always like a T. As TCC said, you can get the springs out with regular compressors. But its a a scarry job! They're much easier to put back in shorter The ball joint will be an to remove as well, I ended up taking the lower arm to a commercial vehical fitters to remove and fit the new one. AFAIK There are not factory turbo deisel RHD w123's because the steering box is right where the turbo would be.

Great car cheapest I have ever bought, probably the slowest from a standing start too ;D It can always be worse... Somebody I know had a 300 Estate US-import non-turbo diesel with a worn autobox. I drove it a number of times but it was just soooooo incredibly slow... comfortable though (that is as long as you're not uncomfortable about traffic jams growing behind you ;-)) Nice car though!

It may be slow but it is THE most practical load lugging car ever. Managed to get a washing machine and tumble dryer in the back of it the other day. I think the colour is called 'Petrol green' !? would be quite nice but for the fact that some not so handy with a spray can P.O. has had a go at touching up the stone chips

They never made RHD TDTs because the turbo is where the steering column would be on RHD cars.
The W123 is an awesome car. My dad had two brand new ones in a row in the eighties. A 200T and then a 230TE...my pals used to ask if it was a turbo because TE could only stand for Turbo Estate!
I used to have a Petrol Green 240D. Until a catastrophic MOT failure caused by rusted out floor and front inner wings.

Score! Summer is here so i needed to change to from winter to summer tyres - been searching for a while and then up pop these - two sets of wheels 8 for 100 quid, four with decent summer tyres. They are Melber copies so not he real deal but still look good i think. Got myself a bargain ;D

gone just like that, well probably not just like that but gone it is. TFW (the fat wagon as it ran on 100% biodiesel) has been stolen! Having your car disappear is one of those super self doubt, double take experiences. you think 'I did park it here...right?' [your mind flashes back through the memory of doing just that a a few hours before.] You then turn around scanning the nearby area, in my case the garage under the building, just in case you'd foolishly parked it somewhere else. Nope it's gone [mind plays through scene of parking car in parking space again just to firm up and confirm the reality] no can't see it here. [stare at empty space where you now know you parked it] Hmmm... no it really isn't there. [brain finally gives in and accepts the facts as presented] so i now have a large Fat Wagon sized hole in my parking space I also have a Fat Wagon sized hole in my heart. This car is (was) great. Practical to the end too as it seems the 'person' or 'people' responsible also loaded up a couple of mopeds into the back of TFW on their way out, cheeky eh. Bumhats! Hopefully it won't be the last i see of TFW. It's probably worth more in parts than it is whole, but i'm hoping they'll take pity on the old thing and leave it somewhere it can be found. Oslo plod have been informed and i expect they have a squad of men working on the case as we speak :-\

it was parked in the car park under our flats, so probably an easy target amongst all the the other euro boxes. Bit gutted myself but no point in getting to dispondent about it, if i don't get it back there are plenty more cars to choose from, funny thing was i was about to have a weekend working on the car replacing a lot of stuff to get it through the MOT - saves me the hassle of doing that at least always a silver lining eh?
