Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Well last week was a terrible week at work, deployed a new system in to our live environment and it spent a week falling over in dramatic fashion every time it got busy. Seems I lurch from one major technical issue to the next in my life. Maybe there will be some karmic payoff one day. Didn't win a van on dream car giveaways though, so clearly it isn't that immediate. Hoovered out the 996 over the weekend as it was full of pine needles from getting the Christmas tree. Battery was almost flat and it didn't want to start. I really should get back in the habit of using it more. Still got new windscreen wipers to put on it, but don't plan to do that until it stops freezing as I don't want to ruin them too quickly. Other than that, saving money for US trip in a few weeks and hoping to have enough after to plan some European trips, would love to do Elmia Custom Car Show in April. Elmia sounds excellent! How have I never heard of it before? Annoyingly it's the week before Techno Classica Essen and the same weekend as the Amsterdam Motor Show. And Easter.

I am getting geared up to go to Monaco in 11 days' time for a weekend, and am hoping to see a few nice motors.
Hope also to get some pics from around the harbour plus the usual bits of the GP circuit as well as any tasty retro motors around.
Excited!

First commute home whilst making a priority list of niggles to fix. Think I've got some wheels that will work arranged then suspension and paint and sound system in time for RRW is the plan. Only 4 months to go.

I sent the Manta gearbox away for reconditioning 6 months ago and I'm still waiting for its return! Hopefully it will get returned before any of the shows.

Always thought that Omega fat fives would look good on a Carlton...

Yeah it's a 2.6, goes well enough and sounds nice and so far I'm doing 33-34mpg motorway cruising which is perfect. My old GSI was low teens to single digits lol. That did have fat 5s. Going a different look with the estate though.

They're not the fat fives I meant - I think the late Omegas had much flatter 17s?

These look much like Audis Parabol rims, often seen on TTs. edit:

The cold weather has been testing my resolve to get in the garage this week, decided to try and fix the helmet lock tumbler for my bike instead Did discover on the weekend that the Crossfire has about a thousand fixings holding the rear bumper on Which revealed a bit more rust š if I hadn't spent a load of money on the suspension and brakes, it'd probably be a cube by now š

Been getting comfortable again with the Princess as my only car. Last week we had some overfuelling issues which turned out to be a sticky float and/or needle, so just old car stuff really. Today we did a more extended errand run about and she was just fine, didn't decide to stop for a rest unexpectedly once and just let me get stuff done. Perhaps the oddest thing is how little fuel I seem to be using for the miles covered, it seems to be performing better than the Maestro on that front which is very unexpected. We're not talking mega economy here, it just looks like it might be in the high 20s for mpg rather than the mid to low 20s. I'll know better when I put some more fuel in it and can do some actual maths.

Iām still dealing with family stuff. When Iām out of the other side of it I think I need to have a good look at what Iām doing and focus some time and attention on stuff which is going to bring me joy. I have had some ideas and so on. Always more ideas than time and money though
I think a few cars will be moved out in the coming season and some old favourites get new love.
