Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Wooo! Time to put Weekender and Gathering tickets on sale this week, because it is a neverending cycle!! Club RR hang tight as we have combo tickets for you available too, as well as being the only way to get Long Weekender (and indeed Long Gathering) camping now days. Good times. In other exciting news my wife and I spent a productive Sunday clearing out curse word from the garage, so I can re-arrange that to have more room for a car and somewhere that makes sense to do some DIY type woodwork. Website-wise we'll have new ads installed hopefully this week, just need to get my ducks in a row, which should hopefully take some financial pressure off so we can do more cool stuff, but let's see where that ends up, I really want to get on with more fixes and improvements so need this out of the way. What you been up to? Previous Thread : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/225747/chat-thread-refinement-incoming-wc

Aye car is not good. In a possibly slightly annoying to road safety internet experts way I've come out of a speed starting with 1 country lane crash in less pain than I was before. I severely injured my knee as a teenager and have basically had arthritis since, and for the last few months the pain has been very severe (they thought I'd need knee replacement surgery by 30 and I'm 37 now). Since the accident it's gone back to the dull background ache it always has been.

Luckily Matt knows someone locally with a ramp bed truck that you can drag on a car with no suspension without damaging the car (further) or the recovery bed 😉 So I went to some random field to laugh at him then drag his sorry back to his work yard so it could be forklifted off. I’ll just say if you’re gunna fall off country roads at speed when doing the south Yorks ‘special stages’ make sure you’re going fast enough to clear the embankment and ditch and land on the flat bit the other side. a bit slower and it would have flipped a lot of times and got a bit messy…

In non-dragging-cars-out-of-fields news, I’m trying to get as much use out of this as possible before winter really sets in. Using it for stuff like popping to the shops is GR9 fun, even if the general public can’t quite cope with seeing such things 😂

After a couple of incredibly intense (both physically and emotionally) weeks, I'm finding myself insanely low on energy. Today's most demanding task has been dropping off some wheels at my favourite local tyre place. Picking them up *and* fitting them tomorrow? We'll see.

Today, 75 Years ago, the 2cv (snail for You, Ente (= duck) in germany) was presented by Citroen at the 1948 Paris motor show.

Drained the oil out of the Maestro safe in the knowledge I had a box full of new oil filters and some new copper washers for the sump plug. Old filter was a bit stuck and couldn't find my filter ratchet so did the old screwdriver trick. All went well, old oil drained into pan without going down my arm or all over the drive. Super.
Tried to fit the new filter and it was the wrong size... in fact the whole box are the wrong size! Only filter that fits is the one I jammed a screwdriver through. Copper washers I've got are all the wrong size.
Oh well! New parts will arrive in a few days and I can finish the job. I was going to get the welder out to do the door corners until I realised to do that I need to get the Lanchester out of the garage and to do that I need to move the Maestro which has no oil in the engine so I guess I'll just have to find something else to do instead.

Just returned from Malta, did quite a bit of old car stuff. Might try and do a thread if I get a chance. Tom
