In our group of friends, there where talks of going to the Bergrennen again this year. We've been to a couple in the past years, but it's been a while. In the end only 2 of us went, and i tried to get more pictures then normal, to make a little report for you guys . ivan141 and I set off on Sunday morning, Ivan found out there was some racing going on at Spa Francorchamps. Not retro, but very nice to walk around the iconic track and see cars racing around it. Went on to Trier, had some beers, walked around the old town, saw an almost 2000 year old Roman building Drove to Wolfsfeld the next day, even the non competing cars the visitors bring are quite interesting. Some are _extra_ cool though! I did a bit of an OOF when i first saw it... It's perfect in my eyes, beautifully finished, perfect wheels and looking at all the dead flies on the front, streetdriven! Walked around the 'paddock' (basically the whole town, some drivers are in driveways of the local houses, others are just parked along the street).

After the walk around the paddock, we went up the steep hill (think Shelsley, but longer...) to the first hairpin. There where limited spectator areas and a lot of people, so it was quite hard to find a decent spot to take some pictures, but i tried! An angry sounding Lupo for johnthesparky Some weren't going for fast, but for FUN! Then we went up to the next viewing point, but it wasn't great, only took some pics of the cars coming down after their run This was a seriously angry sounding Kadett GT/R. It had a Lotus V8 in it, but i didn't recognize it. Some other cars had ex F1/F2/F3 engines in them, maybe this also was one of them? There's pics from under the bonnet earlier in the thread Next we went up to the highest point we could reach, the top hairpin, but it was more of the same. Loads of people and not much viewing possibilities. Back to the paddock we went, more interesting stuff to look at anyway, you can get very close to the cars! Interesting choice of front bumper. It took me a while to identify it as a Golf Mk3 bumper (i think?). It looks weird, but also works quite well with the widebody. Afterwards we drove home via Luxembourg over their perfect roads back home. Great weather, cool cars and cold beers, what more does one want?

As above. One of those things I've been meaning to do but never seem to get round to.

Same here, 2 classes I'd love to see in the flesh are the berg cup stuff and the Japanese silhouette stuff as shown in @akku 's Japan thread.

Funny You say THIS: Interesting choice of front bumper. It took me a while to identify it as a Golf Mk3 bumper (i think?). It looks weird, but also works quite well with the widebody. ...since I'm not sure if THIS is another golf mk3 or a passat b4 bumper which landed partly upside down on this polo!

Comparing the pics now the polo seems to feature a passat b4 bumper , the fog lights (or just dummies?) are wider.

Unbelievable amounts of awesome in this thread, thanks for posting all the pics!
I've been wanting to get to a Berg Cup event for decades, I've lost so many hours to the Berg Fränky youtube channel and others... One day. One day...

What they all said^^ I feel like I need to make this happen. Club RR trip 2024? Cheaper than Le Mans and all that, so could be more accessible.

I'm on board for that - this year is my last Le Mans Classic - the event is just too popular so getting too pricey and it's getting really hard to get good car parking at points around the circuit

Ivan found some video on YouTube, looks like the Golf with the Passat bumper didn't fair well after we'd seen him at the start..

No, that's the golf with the golf bumper, the passat bumper was on the polo.
