Some time ago there was a posting on here about machining Alloy wheels and making them into split rims, I have looked and looked but cant find the post, Anybody know the post I mean?

No but I've done it so what do you want to know? Toying with ideas for my Toledo, at the moment it had dolomite sprint rims on it, these are quite limiting in as much as they are FWD offset but with a dish, and I cant find any wheel I like that I think will suit the car, aesthetically the car needs more rubber on the rear, and more probably because I have a heavy foot, Then I spotted a dolly with some modified stock rims, with a bit of hunting I found this link, fb.watch/jhodTpruy6/Obviously I would need to source 13" hoops, turn a spigot on the rim edge for location of the hoop, then, I suppose its a drill and tapathon after that, Who is the best people to get hoops from, Image? I would think silicon for sealing I am to overkeen on undercutting the flange for a O ring, I might just buy an old scrap wheel and fiddle....see what occurs  |

You could try Carl from force racing and see if he has any rims that would suit. He can be hard to get hold of but has sorted me out with spinnings to do wheel mods before.
One thing you will notice is the rims you need don't include a 'well' for fitting the tyre. This means you have to assemble the rim around the tyre rather than fitting with a machine. It's not usually a problem unless you want to run tyres that are too wide for the rims.
That's also the reason you will see 3 peice split rim conversions always increase the wheel diameter. There's usually just not enough meat in the wheel to machine away to get a normal outer rim on there so peolel just go a size bigger.
Silicone sealant is standard for assembling split rims. You don't need O-rings.
