Hey Folks, Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Update from last week's thread opener... I failed to buy a new tool box in the sales. Previous thread here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/223537/chat-thread-all-time-wc

I bought a 20V impact driver setup from Lidl for 80€, and it buzzed off the top mount nuts I've been fighting with on and off for the past two weeks without breaking a sweat. It seems well enough built for all the use it'll get from me, so for half the price of a Makita body alone it's worth it. Chuffed.

I've dropped the Mercury to the local garage because I have a fuel leak on it and they have a lift. I forgot to mention that the thing only starts in neutral so they had to phone me up for a basic driving lesson on the thing....
I've got a guy who has made me some new steel gate frames popping round today to check they fit. Next step is to sort out the wooden panneling for them. Ive had wooden gates for years but they don't survive as long as I'd like (foreever, obviously) as my corner plot is quite exposed to all weather. Steel framing hopefully will get round the issues I have with my wood swelling in damp weather (oo-er)

Bought a stage 2 remap for the 2002 plate daily in the black Friday sale. I'll have to make sure it doesn't shorten the drive to the in-laws.

I put a personal plate on the daily (I have to say - superb service by the DVLA - something I thought would never pass my lips!). First time I've delved into that area and it's far, far easier than expected.
I am also trying to convince myself that a new trolley jack can wait until after Christmas. I am slowly failing...

I’ve decided after not having a car since May that I now want one again. I spend a lot of hours in my works vw caddy and don’t really need a car. I just have the urge to get something to tinker with and drive about purely for fun.

I finished making the manifold back exhaust for my Clio and now I'm really confused because it's mainly made out of a chopped up system from a GT86, and it's now got a real flat 4 warble going on. Definitely not a misfire as it (relatively) goes like the clappers, just sounds like a Subaru in the process.

Whats on my mind? Just been in a sad place since last weeks announcement regarding ULEZ expansion.
Now got to consider selling some of the fleet and work out a way to save as many local cars as possible from going to the crusher. It has really knocked me for six, left me feeling very flat, angry and generally sad. I was just getting back into the car scene after several years away an managed to get to a RRG for the first time in ages. Argh frustrating.

Dropped the modernish (though it's 16 years old now!) transporter in for a power steering leak and running rough, knowing it needed a few other things: front shocks and top mounts, rear pads (separated from backing), ps pump, right driveshaft centre bearing carrier somehow snapped off the chassis, boost hose split, some bushes, plus going to do new wheels, tyres, lower it, and maybe a new turbo, injectors if thays what's causing the smoke and misfire, and mapping, so an expensive bill coming my way soon! Otherwise waiting for the haynes book of lies and a headgasket kit to be delivered to start work on the landy.

Shouldn't it exit below the valance I've always wondered if you could hide a straight through exhaust and just put heat shield on the bumper and this was a ideal opportunity as the bumper needed changing anyway. Turns out it's a definite no as I've now got a very melted bumper lol

My impala fuel pump pooped itself, my golf is in storage… so I’ve realised this weekend I can’t carry my children (x2) in my work caddy… had to borrow the mrs car. So currently looking for a kid hauler as I had to give her petrol money for the 10 miles i did.

First time I've delved into that area and it's far, far easier than expected. I keep getting tempted to get some kind of private plate for mine. Really wanted B310 HTW for my Sunny, but I don't think I'm allowed to put that on (it's a T reg, if anyone knows different). P996 HTW which I'd want for my Porsche is 'currently' on a Ford, currently in quotes as it is SORN since 2005. Then there is the whole R2 HTW or similar that I should have bought when I had the chance. Today I've switched my mobile over to use the 'Desktop' mode permanently, with an eye to fixing up all the little (and big) issues Desktop mobile has. Then I'll flip the button to move everyone over to that view.

Excellent, thank you! I've found it's absolutely pot luck whether or not the photo uploader works... Yeah, everything needs tightening up a bit. Also I have a new photo uploader in the works which has a nice preview thing going on, so hopefully finally solve the image upload ordering thing too

Trying to figure a way to sell a couple of the fleet and buy this...but since it only has a couple of days left on the auction I'm not sure it's happening in time.

R2 HTW is currently available on Regtransfers for a mere £800 (including the DVLA Transfer fee) However, R12 HTW is available on the DVLA for £250 dvlaregistrations.dvla.gov.uk/buy.html?plate=R12%20HTW&price=250
