Autosport International is back on in January after having missed a couple of years. They have been making more and more of the Weekend Performance Car show or whatever it is called. It is the bit of the show that the public get to be a part of and is more directed to tuner culture than race cars, although there is obviously a cross over. As part of that they are now officially arbiters of what makes a good tuned car in the UK and are doing awards and stuff for it. You can go here to vote : www.wishpond.com/lp/2707666/Here are what they've got in the list (I'll include the moderns for completeness) Stephen Moore's Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS (competed at the first Quick60 event at Shelsley) Perry Rolls Mk1 Cortina with Duratec Michael Lis' Pandem Kitted E30 Simon Kelly's Vauxhall Astra VXR Mk5 Matthew Thornton's Volkswagen Golf R Mk6 Sam Wells' Ford Focus ST Mk4 Anthony Muskett Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Daniel Rowlands' Nissan Skyline R33 Craig Denham's Nissan 350Z Andy Devine's Ford Escort Mexico Mk2 Not sure which I'd vote for right now.

Hard not to really like the Cortina, the wheels alone are ace.

Cortina for me, too, but somehow I even like the escort. And I have never been a ford fan.

That's the best the UK has to offer? Some are ok and clearly a lot of work has gone into them but meh (*). Other than the Cortina, that's lovely. The E30/Mk2 Escort are just too much. *subjective opinion, don't quote me and gripe

They're all excellent I'm sure*, and far better than anything I've ever built (they're painted for a start ), but if you're talking about 'the UK's top 10 tuned cars' then I was expecting something a little more ambitious. They're not Binky are they... *I'll caveat that with the fact that I don't know much about any of them, so just first impressions.

One of those cars stands out because it’s restrained. Tasteful. Balanced.
Building a good car is as much about what you don’t do as what you do.

I have had the pleasure of a passenger ride in that Cortina and it is an absolute animal.
I distinctly remember passing a Ferrari 360 on the back straight of Bruntingthorpe and then being told he needed to back off because it was overheating. Good times!

And at 52 I’d look a knob in most of them. The cortina is awesome less is more to perfection.

The information on the cars is very limited. Really just a vote based on aesthetic preference with the given information.

It's a odd but understandable selection, as apart from the Evo they're all fairly good examples of a cross section of the British modified car scene.
I do quite like that the Skyline and 350Z are like a 15 year time warp of "mods to do to your modern Japanese performance car". The Skyline is now old and expensive and therefore they're mainly now fairly subtle, whereas at the age the 350Z is they were cheap and big wangs and all that kit and caboodle were they wet dream mods of choice

Some interesting cars in there for sure! It would have good to have seen something with a little more of a different formula. pinderwagen’s Golf, for example, is one. Respects the ethos of thr Golf, but hats off to a car which can do almost a 7 minute lap around the Nurburgring. I understand 7:20s are common with it
