We've been on here a long time now. People have come. People have gone. Projects were started. Projects disappeared. I'm sure you remember a few, you probably know where some of them are now. How about a What ever happened to...? thread.
I'll kick off. Going back a bit here, he was a younger lad in the scene and had a beige Reliant kitten. Slightly lowered with wide wheels. Pretty sure it had a black and white chequered roof or bonnet. He was into supercharging and I swapped him a BMW Mini supercharger for a really obscure Eaton style supercharger. I forget what engine he had in the Kitten though. My L33T Googling doesn't bring up anything. Ring any bells?

This guy? forum.retro-rides.org/thread/35259/1976-reliant-kitten-05-09?page=11Great idea for a thread! I had the same thought recently when looking through a few old build threads - it seems a lot of the old "regulars" still come to the meets and the shows but not as much time for forum posts these days

A depressing number of project cars never get finished. A depressing number of cool finished cars get broken up for another cool project (see point above) A lot of cool stuff is sat in people's garages waiting for the kids to have grown up....

The one I really remember was the twin engined escort wonder if it ever got finished. Found it - all photbucket messed up mind ClickyPhotobucket f-ked up literally thousands of build threads, and a lot of people got the ar$e on with forums because of it. I saw what was happening and bulk downloaded all my PB images before it hit the fan, so there not ‘lost’ like a lot, but they’re sat on an old laptop and it’s very unlikely I’ll ever repost them as it would take weeks to fix all the links and most of the cars are long gone. I know a not inconsiderable amount of people who used to be big on forums, but as forums died because of the wholesale shift to ‘social media’, they now have a much lower online presence. Ironic huh?

You can occasionally find xbo11ox on the brown forum (Autos h i t e) when he puts his toys back in his pram - his projects now tend to be a bit too new for this place - I try to meet up with him at the Le Mans Classic for a beer but "covid" means it's been a while...... Bruce Mystery Machine is busy being a global trotting entrepreneur - he delivered some artwork he'd created to me earlier this year and we caught up over a couple of cups of tea That thread gets mentioned in despatches on a regular basis on quite a few forums as the ultimate cliff hanger

SOC's Mayday build was epic, nice fella too bought a capri rack & crossmember of him. Always curious about where life takes folk as they drift away from forums when in phases they are virtually ever present(mind reckon I dropped away from here for 2-3 years at one point)

As far as I know, Mayday still exists and is still with Scary. It was certainly about when he did an MoT for me in... 2017/8 before I moved down to Kent.

I just saw this photo once, was this ever finished? This make me a bit... yknow......thingy My first thought for this thread was mayday, it was the first car on here that really grabbed me, fantastic bit of work. It's also got me wondering where some of my old cars ended up. I've seen my chevette in a couple of show pics, no idea what happened to my maestro (probably a fridge be now) and I'm sure I've seen my old lada on the opening credits of corrie a couple of times, something to do with those meerkats.

I found RR through Retro Cars and specifically Racer86's KP30 forum.retro-rides.org/thread/35267/1976-toyota-1000-respray-carbs The build and car itself inspired me to get my own KP30 that I was planning to turn into a full Retro Rally Car for Irish and International competitions. Due to a number of factors but mostly because those style of events at an affordable level really dried up, I stopped the project and sold it. I would still love a KP30 and really enjoyed Racer86's builds.

Well (expletive) it! I would have liked to throw my hat in the ring for that.
I hope the winner knows what they've got ....... or sells it to me!
