I was there with this which, at the time, was seen as nothing more than an 'old car'. I'd paid £225 for it just a few months before the show, it was my daily. Different world. I was just 42 then, I've just celebrated my 57th birthday, and drive this.... ....and this. Thankfully I'm still in touch with many of you via the socials.

I still have this! I took it to bits shortly after Mallory '07 with grand ideas, tried a few engines but it's never reached the top of the pile and has sat languishing mostly in the last 14 years. Work has started amongst other projects and I'm in the middle of piecing it back together to get out and about next year... I know where Edd's 2002 is and it has visited the gatherings in new hands over the years. I think James with the yellow Kadett still has that too.

My old MK2 golf was there somewhere. Good times So many of the friends i have from RR today, where there in 07. As was I, but i knew almost nobody (only 'knew' Hirst and spoke to him there) all the rest was just me and my Dutch mates. And a Swedish guy in a HUGE Caddilac who just happened to stumble upon the event and hung out with a group of weird Dutchies on an adventure. Good times indeed!

Great memories! I can't believe it was so long ago. My Mercedes made some show appearances after this, in 2008, then it came off the road for a "quick bit of welding" which I still haven't finished... Can't wait for RRG '22!

It came off the road in 2009 as it was getting crispy in the rear chassis, about a week before I met a girl I later married, and then kids, other projects etc happened and it’s still sitting in the container. And mrs SK is still annoyed she never got a ride in it 😂. Last time I had it running (2020 maybe?) when I dug the Sapphire out of even longer term storage. I know Bodieanddoyle still regrets selling the 2002!

And we are nearly at the day to go once again. I'm so looking forward to this. Camping with the Mrs but unfortunately I own a modern Audi estate now and no retro, yet.
Hope to see some of the regulars around the site.
I think my fiesta is still partially alive undergoing a resto, temptation to try get it back is massive. I bought that for £400 with 62k miles on it only a month or so before the show. It changed my life and I can't get away from the car life no matter how hard I try!

I was at Mallory in 07, with a wagon. Just a month before my daughter was born. .Time flys.

A retrospective post by HoTWire on IG highlighted to me that I never actually posted my pictures from RetroRides Show (pre-Gathering) at Mallory Park in 2007!! Maybe they were in a sub-forum? Either way, what an oversight on my part! My memory isn't good enough to do any sort of proper commentary, it has been 15years afterall, so I'll just get to it and try to remember some names to go with the cars; Blast from the past, I remember Peaches from my TotalVW/Volkszone forum days. Great photos from back in the good old days, when cars were cheap enough to buy and sit on without a care in the world and the words "investment opportunity" were never heard in the car fraternity. If only we realised how good it was!

My W123 (final pic in the post of the MB pinstripe) is long gone from me, and seemingly long dead too, it was last MOT'd in 2009. I do still have one of these from 2007 though - pic taken just now....

I was there too... and it's crazy that the first show is basically old enough to be retro itself now. I still have the FavorAt but it's very crispy and would probably be best to let it die. I met loads of Retro Riders at that show that remianed buddies for a long time, but all my car friends from over this side of the water have drifted off, the scene has changed quite a lot, and honestly I question whether I should too. I'm glad though of all the shows I travelled to England for back when I was young and prepared to stay up late and sleep uncomfortably for the sake of an awesome car show
