I've been going through our stats for the last few years and whilst I'm broadly happy with the volume of visitors we have and the amount of activity we have is nice and healthy I'm really disappointed by the way the number of sites linking in to here has shrunk. Now I know A LOT of websites have died (or seem to have) and the world of the personal blog seems to have disappeared. There is a whole rant in me about how the "web" has been reduced to a vanishingly handful of sites leeching off the work and content of a very very broad layer of specialist sites and it actually isn't healthy at all, for hobbies of all sorted. That being said I'm sure there are still a whole load of car websites out there which I should be checking out for interesting stuff and hopefully draw their attention here. So with that in mind, what else is out there? I keep an eye on www.superfly-autos.com/ as they have some great features on there www.speedhunters.com/ still comes up with some great stuff regularly engineswapdepot.com/ has great stuff on it regularly. What you reading?

It is American based, but subscribers and contributors from around the world.

Not updated very frequently, but Build Threads is a good little site. Just pulls together awesome build threads the guy's found while searching through places.

bringatrailer.com is entertaining to browse, even if I'm not looking to buy anything. All kinds of cars on there which lead down some interesting rabbit holes.

Rejsa.nu - Swedish forum mostly related to track cars. Some very interesting builds, but it is in Swedish only. Used to use Pistonheads, but their layout with what feels like hundreds of sub forums makes it hard to find good content. I’ve started watching more videos on YouTube lately. Problem for most other sites and magazines for that sake is that they usually aren’t technical enough for me. I want thorough articles, not lightweight shallow scribbled half pages.
I used to subscribe to practical performance car, but they too ended up in the light pile after a few years.

As a hardcore Cal Look VW guy, I check out www.cal-look.no/lounge every day. However, while it used to be a check it several times a day type forum, you could check it once a week and still not get as much content as daily even five years ago. I still check www.eurodragster.com once a week, and the classifieds on www.thesamba.com, but other than that, it's YouTube and here that give me my car fix.

With the variety I get on here, not just confined to cars, I have no need to look for anywhere else. I tend to watch more youtube than TV now, and between the two that'll do me nicely.

Same here - along with the updates on my build threads I don't get time to really browse anything else - I even put RR before the Jowett Car Club site has that's just like wait waiting for the 1 piece of tumbleweed to blow through town once a week

As with the above I mostly look on this site. All types of vehicles and all ranges of ability make it a very varied and interesting place to be. I occasionally have a look on motorgeek for Audi stuff and superturbodiesel for er..... super turbo diesels.

.The Jalopy Journal is owned by Ryan C. And the forum parts of that are ( were) the Hokey Ass Message Board ( HAMB), the Garage Journal, Ford Barn, a vintage bike forum ( Velocity if I remember correctly, which got sold ), at least one more for gadgets, etc , and the Dogfight forum ( for any kind of performance cars ) which unfortunately died. Ryan is a friend of mine, and I used to help out as a Mod on the HAMB and the Dogfight.

I've really got into Hemmings.com lately. Being US based it's got a heavy bias towards American cars, but not exclusively. If you go to the "Stories" link on the top of the page there's loads of interesting features and it seems to be updated regularly.

I find all the activity is in specific Facebook groups, I've practically unfollowed all my 'friends' and most of my family now no more fake posts and baby pics my feed is stuff I like some local some worldwide but always fresh busy and varied. I love this site but I've noticed the car sale section is nowhere as busy otherwise a1+

This forum is my first go to for the sheer variety even if its not cars I'm into its still a great read, who would have though I would know so much about Jowetts now!!
Being a Vauxhall/Opel fan I go on the Droop Snoot Group, Viva Owners and the Manta forums but they are usually a bit dead!

As said above a Facebook is probably my most used go to place, it’s essential when you have extinct British tat as your hobby. Most other forums I used in the past seem to have died except RR.

I’d love to find some more Speedhunters type sites which good quality, original content. Alas I think the only reason Speedhunters is able to do so is via the might of EA games funding it in the background, so fairly unlikely to be repeated.
