Anyone know where I might be able to get information on dimensions for various bushes on various cars?
I'm looking to make a custom torque link/dogbone for the x1/9 and I was trying to find somewhere that listed bushes by dimension (length, OD, ID of tube etc).
One option is to email some polybush suppliers with my requirements, but a simple table would be so much easier when sizing things up for different applications.
Oh, and I'm aware you can cast you're own but buying them off the shelf ensures quality whereas I anticipate a bit of trial and error if I'm doing it myself...

I might have an programme on the computer with some data, but it'll be a few days before I can check. Best idea is to get some common easy to find ones and base it around that? At least that'll help with sourcing them in the future. Rough dimensions and shape/style may help others offer leads.
don't bother making your own for such stuff. You need a pressure tank set up etc, and in such a vital area it's not worth it unless you're will to pay to tinker.

What ferny said. it's not just as simple as making a bush and hoping for the best. You're talking also about accounting for NVH, cushion loadings and stress placement etc. With timing chains for example, that's a job that's alot harder for an OEM to design than most would think, especially as things get tougher over time.

Superpro used to have a search/catalogue listing on their site for sizes IIRC. I can do custom one-offs if you get really stuck.

Thanks guys between those two I've found some suitable bushes for some custom engine mounts, if not for the dogbone links yet. If anyone's interested, Ford Cortina/Ford Escort Mk1 leaf spring front bushes (SPF0935K) seem to be a reasonable size for engine mounts. Should fit snugly into 50.8x2mm tubing, and have a 19mm internal bore (I think you can get crush tubes that are 19mm OD and 12mm ID for M12 bolts). If I'm lucky, the ones that come with the Cortina bushes will either have a 12mm bore, or a slightly narrower one that can be drilled out to 12mm. Wish I had a lathe. Would make this sort of thing so much simpler...

Just grab some 3/4" OD, 1/2" ID tube and chop it to length, sorted.

Huh. 19mm is roughly 3/4". Who knew? Thanks for pointing out what should have been blindingly obvious but wasn't As it stands the Cortina bushes came with sleeves that had a 1/2" bore so a good enough fit for an M12 bolt

I used an MX5 wishbone bush that fitted perfectly into a 1 3/4 CDS tube that had a 12mm bore spacer for the mounts on My Honda lump in Strat' Ordered up 4 off Floflex MX5 front lower rear wishbone bushes - The Poly is a nice compromise as its not really stiff and there is a good amount of area to spread loads over. The mounts will be set up in an Escort World Cup type configuration with the orientations the same as they were originally. Just need to find where I have put all of my 45mm seamless tubing to make the sleeves from. The shed has also been given a good clean out and I am spring cleaning the various sheds and binning years of retained classic realated tat. Must have sorted out near 30kg of old nuts and bolts alone. Here's the rest if interested forum.retro-rides.org/thread/185484/litton-corse-stratos-replica-diversions?page=25
