Refrained from posting until now. I've driven in many parts of the world and whilst Manila isn't quite the worst for traffic, that'll be Jakarta, it's certainly the worse for, "Me, me, me," driving of anywhere. UK drivers are babies in that respect, trust me. Early Sunday mornings are my answer. Empty roads, V8 burble, happy boy. No, I can't do it every day, and I'm lucky that I have a car and driver for the commute, but I live for those Sunday mornings.

ive owned big land rovers for the last 10 years, ive never found that anyone got out of my way. usually the opposite, they expect you to drive at 45 on the broken verges of tarmac, literally through hedges, or somehow warp through 120 year old tree trunks like it has no matter.
anyway, for the original question.

My commute is only 1/2 a mile so that doesn't make me sour and now I daily my retro so every journey is fun. Are you really driving to work if it's only half a mile? I often need the car during the day for longer outings and I go home for lunch. If the good Lord had wanted me to walk, he wouldn't have given me all these lovely cars!

Car parks. That's where you win! On driving, a plumber needed to lift a manhole in the garage today, so I needed the '38 to be out of the way. Easiest was to drive myself to work, so he'd got a clear run. Left home at 05:45 and after 40 minutes of clear roads, arrived at the office. All well and good but what's coming home going to be like? I left just before a mate, with his driver, and the first 15kms or so we follow the same route. Sat myself in the inside lane on the highway at the 80kph limit, lit a smoke and just trundled. Watched my pal fly past me in the outside lane. After 10km of highway, having watched him veer from lane to lave, I'm two cars back. Hit the normal roads and, just by anticipation, I'm ahead at the lights. Two kms later, I've lost them, having never exceeded 50kph. Mate rings me to tell me his driver was really peed off that I'd out-filipino-ed a Filipino. Not claiming anything but good teaching and experience. Plus a solid belief the meandering from lane to lane achieves nowt! Home in 1h10m, so aye, there's still fun to be had.
