I very much like this.
Looks great on the late 90's OZ Volcano wheels too.

I find it hard to believe that that engine has only done 6,000 miles!
Looks more like 106,000.

At least it should have been well maintained if it was an ex-cop engine? I do like a V8 so am watching with interest for the outcome!

The engine looks like a well maintained high miler although high miles is a relative term with an engine so lightly stressed as the RV8 even 120K is not much and will only reveal itself as a slightly worn camshaft. A poorly maintained one will still keep ticking on but the inside of it will be a sight to behold.

So just to confirm guys the engine did 6000 miles in the westy , no idea on the mileage when I bought it ! Sorry for the confusion . Tonite we finished stripping the crank out and the main shells were pretty knackered too , Crank looks great though and the general condition in the engine is very clean so as suggested the maintenance has been good . Heads stripped as well , the valves are pretty carboned up but do not look like they have been blowing . Valve seats all look good . The head ports are poor , I wonder how well the engine reacts with a bit of porting ? Exhaust port is tiny !! Also started cleaning up the engine bay as well .

Ahh now I am getting it you are not as silly as some of us thought....it could be many many etc more miles on that V8. Your threads are always good reading. I really enjoy this one too. Good luck with this awesome car.

So a visit to Knight Engine services yesterday was very successful, Dave is a top bloke and after a inspection a plan of action has been decided : Hone the boor and new rings New cam bearings Polish the crank and new shells Completely rebuild the heads with new guides and springs Lighten the flywheel a bit . Everything to be given a good clean ect . Full gasket set sorted Rebuild oil pump New timing chain and sprockets . Gearbox has been sorted , turned out to be a broken C clip !!!! Being refreshed while itβs out . Hopefully everything will be back for Christmas ππ www.knightengineservices.co.uk/

Go past there quite often, and they always seem busy, good to know of a local-ish good place

Great fix on the gearbox, must be some money left in the pot now for more BHP!! Not being picky but the sump pan isn't exactly a work of art or is that Westfield adapted?!
