Carnival Red Metallic with Oatmeal Electric Leather

MOT February 2019
For sale is my Jaguar XJ8 3.2 V8 finished in Carnival Red. I can't resist a big cat, so when this came up for sale locally, I bought it.
It had sat unused for the past few months, so needed a good valet, which has been done. Due to it sitting around, and the battery going flat, it has come up with the ABS / Traction Control / Restricted Performance messages on the dash.
Starts first turn of the key, and the 'AJV8' engine sounds great and pulls well. Due to the restricted performance light, it hiccups if you push it hard. If you drive it normally, it drives as it should. Not had it diagnosed, but most likely an oxygen sensor (common on these). Slight tapping on idle only from hydraulic lifters, again likely from being sat around - once you touch the revs, the sound disappears. Does not affect the way in which it runs. Would benefit from a service and a wheel speed sensor (usual culprit for the ABS light).
No leaks or overheating. Will sit for ages and the temperature never goes above the half way mark.
Gearbox changes as it should, but would benefit from an oil and filter service as preventative maintenance. There is a vibration between 50 and 70mph when you accelerate. Seems to be an imbalance of some sort (prop shaft bearing / gearbox mounts). Before 50mph and after 70mph, the vibration disappears, so I don't believe it's anything serious. A front wheel bearing is whining, so will need attention soon (louder after 50 mph).
Otherwise, this still drives smooth and like an old XJ should. Suspension is tight and solid, and free from the usual clonks these have at this age.
Comes with an XJ private registration, which looks rather cool in my opinion, and is said to be worth over £400 alone.
Exterior is in presentable condition, and not the usual rot box. There are marks, blemishes and stone chips, as to be expected. OSR near petrol cap and same on NSR side has been repainted at some point, and the paint has gone flat, there are a few dents here and there and a couple of scuffs. Mark on the OSF wing. It's not new, but its a luxury barge for less than a grand, so be realistic! Apart from a couple of blisters on the arches (NSR arch is the worst), it is free from major visible rust or rot, and no advisories for this on current MOT.
17" Celtic Alloys are in near excellent condition, with new rear tyres.
The interior is in good condition, and the Oatmeal Leather has no major rips or tears. Everything appears to work as it should, and apart from the above, there are no other warning lights on the dash. Head lining looks recent and in good condition, but has typical sagged, so needs fixing back into place. The cabin of an XJ is a nice place to be, and the car really is pleasure to drive.
Good ones of these are now going up in value, and this won't need too much to be a decent example. This is a rolling project, as it needs some TLC to bring back to former glory. But is a perfectly useable car, and has recently completed a 250 mile round trip.
Comes with: 1 Remote Key, Jaguar Leather Wallet, Jaguar User Manuals, V5 Logbook.
So much car for the money this would have been well over £40k back in 2000!
