Did the Famous Beaulieu Auto-jumble again this year, Beginning to concede this is a 2 day gig, I have been a few times now, In the gates as they opened on Saturday, straight over to the back field, had a good rummage, got a few bits that I don't really need, but thats what we all do, only stopping for a pee, coffee and a burger, come 5pm closing time, we were only halfway round the second field, we had to leave then, as we had used the jumble transfer truck which takes your heavy stuff up to the carpark and deposits it in a bonded area ready to pick up when you leave, but shuts at about 5.15, Fec knows how people manage to do all 3 fields in a day, or do the 4th one day field as well on the Sunday, Camper van next year if I'm going....................

Me and Mrs done this last year (in a day) Lots of interesting stuff I'd like to buy just to put on the shelf at home But as much as I enjoyed walking around the place looking at all the old tat I felt it was only any good if I owned a pre war vehicle I'm currently mid restoration on a 1971 VW camper and thought I'd find some bits and bobs there It's a massive event so I expected there to be at least one stand that would be a VW parts stand
So i did come away a little disappointed

Been going for years as i live about 20mins away, but this year was my last.
Ive allways picked up bargains, loads of stuff , came away with motorbikes, rare wheels all sorts.
This year sod all.
Just found its become a bit specialist. Not so much random stuff but lots of pre war expensive bits. If i had an austin 7 id be fine, could have built 20 odd of them, but couldnt find anything i needed.
And even the basics of grabbing some garage consumables resulted in prices higher than halfords !

I've got to say that I sort of agree with @daaaaaan I live pretty close too, and I didn't really pick much up. I think for the most part the problem is stuff like ebay. When I first started going which must've been getting on for 30 years ago it was pretty good, prices were cheap, and people were friendly, and you could barter with them, which for me is part of the fun. But these days nobody seems to want to haggle, they've got a price in mind, and thats the price they want. Which I guess is fair enough, but it's not so much fun in my mind. Add to that the prices of some of the junk there is crazy. I have a little competition between my two girls, they both get £10 and the object is to buy the most toy cars for the money. About five years ago when we started this one year my eldest thought she had it in the bag when she got home and emptied 63 toy cars onto the lounge carpet. She was pretty chuffed right up to the point when my youngest emptied 87 cars out! but as time has gone on the numbers have dropped, this years round was won by the eldest with a whopping 13 cars against my youngest getting just 9! Most people asking atleast £1 for some beaten up old toy that the seller thinks is a rare collectable! Crazy!
Having said all that, I do enjoy having a look at all the rusty curse word from decades past, and I always go because I feel that if I don't I'll miss something good! I do think that they should open it earlier and close it later so we all get a good chance of getting round!

Aargh this is torture!!! I've never been 😟 I had it all booked to go this year, then the priest who is c9 Did ring my weddding (CofE-Catholic wedding done done done) said we had to meet him! On the Saturday, in herefordshire 😭 then to make matters worse when we got there he asked if he could cancel as he had a chest infection!! Can't be mad at a priest... but gah!!! Torture seeing all the fun!!

I find Beauliea's Spring Autojumble in May is of a more manageable size. The international one is just ginormous!
I've never seen anything Japanese there so never come away with much, but my dad always finds stuff for his MGB...... which makes sense really!

Let's make a plan and do this together next year 😁 Can I tag along too? Missed out this year due to other commitments but hoping I'll be in a position to go and pick up some more parts for the A35's and MG's next year. Typically they seemed to be everywhere when I didn't need them last year, whereas bits for the Celica were not to be found anywhere

This year's autojumble was a first for me, went with a mate and his camper van and did it over two days. There was no way we'd have covered it in just the one day.
Some of the prices being asked were just eye watering, there's no wonder you don't see so much old stuff at the side of the road when a scabby old sign can have a £700 price tag on it.
I'll do it again, but only as a fun weekend with friends, beer and no expectations of finding a bargain.
