Say hello to my newest purchase. A 1992 Proton Saga 1.3 tripe-valve. Oh yes, you're right to be jealous.
What you're looking at there is £225 of Malaysia's formed steel bumpered finest. I found it on Facebook, and when I saw it, I had to have it. It's a two owner car with a genuine 23,000 on the clock. 23k! That's madness. Other than needing a damn good clean, it's pretty much perfect. Well, that's a lie actually, as the front passenger door has a dent in it, but we can sort that out.
So what are the plans? Well, there's a common mantra here on RR that states everything has potential. So that's what I'm going to set out to prove. First things first, it needs to be put back on the road, but I can't see that being too much of an issue. Once that's done, I'm going to change the wheels out, drop it a bit, add some touches inside and out - though all reversible stuff - and see if we can make it really stand out. I'm excited.
The car is so fresh and tight, it's like a new car. There is the smallest bit of rust coming through on the rear arches, but that's it. I reckon with a good was, wx and hoover out, it will be incredible. Time will tell.
