Nice bit of progress. I love this thread, but my phone does not. It constantly crashes. I doubt it's you fault though😊. Please keep us updated.

A great job you are doing. Very thorough and neat. Are you not afraid that the body will flex or twist too much as the structural integrity is more or less lost with so many panels been dismantled.Maybe make a sort of jig.
Keep up the good work! Peter

Thanks folks trying to keep thing moving now A great job you are doing. Very thorough and neat. Are you not afraid that the body will flex or twist too much as the structural integrity is more or less lost with so many panels been dismantled.Maybe make a sort of jig. Keep up the good work! Peter Ive put a few braces in to keep it all in place and measure everything makeing sure it's all the same side to side and nothings moved if you look at this pic you can see the bar next to the tub stopping the floor and parcel shell area opening and its welded to the quarter to stop that moving out. I also welded a brace from the boot floor to the quarter at the back

So going for baby steps little and often, thought it about time I got me passenger door back together so fished it out from upstairs at work and got the new skin put back on it put a nice bead of tigerseal on the inner edges before it went on so should hopefully keep the water out of the seams!! Forgot to take some picks when I was doing it but hears the semi finished article Some of the edges will need a bit of work but not till its hung and everythings on will I know where. That done I've been on with the rear outer arch. The other side went realy well and was quite straight forward but this side is being a tad awkward. As can be seen in the pics it's a bit short for the space it should fit!! This caused a bit of head scratching as to what to do, should I get another arch which might be the same =wasted money, shell out for a express panel =waste even more money or do a bit of a cut and shut =free that will do then so I clamped it on from the rear swage line forward till it stopped following the arch line and cut it in half job done ha ha opps So the front of the tub is going to need similar surgery to the rear but until I have the new floor in and know where the sill is going to sit ill just leave the front section off for now and get back to when I have a better idea of where it needs to be the make a plate to fill the gap and hope it looks good after cough might need more filler than planed lol so nothing big done but little and often is better progress than nothing ay . thanks for takeing the time to have a read this thread seems to get a lot of views but few comments ? I don't bite honist please feel free to comments it really does help keep me motivated

That arch is out more than an inch. That's a lot of wrong in one panel. Which is the culprit, the inner or the outer?

Some excellent fabrication work going on - great to see. Must be the season for rear arches, I've been having the same battle with mine on the Celica, although thankfully I didn't need to cut it in half!

thanks folks appreciate That arch is out more than an inch. That's a lot of wrong in one panel. Which is the culprit, the inner or the outer? well ive measured and compared everything to the otherside I think/hope its the outer arch that's wrong www.steelpanels.co.uk/products/ford/rh-arch-repair-e2s7/ive just messaged express think I'm going to get one of there arches and see how it goes its not that I carnt make fit its just not right so fingers crossed it will be something more like , so will get the back panel all sorted in the mean time few plates and bits need doing before that can go on so will attend to that but leave it of till the arch is done it makes getting to the inside a doddle with it off samta22 good effert pal looks a good job are you ever lapping the panels ? or but welding them

So after much deliberation (nice use of wordage) and considerable ( wow I'm on fire hear ) expence a order was placed with express approx a week later this little beauty turned up Can not fault express very helpful and brilliant quality panel would highly recommend them and will be buying more from them in the future. So with much excitement I hastely offerd up the new arch and guess what it fitted like a glove 🧤 no weight there that's what it was meant to do aaaaaahhhhhhhh 😠😠😠off course it didn't fit why would it how stupid of me so out with the tape measure and from what I can work out the tub is all correctly fitted and measured up same as the other side but the actual curve of the arch is miles out. hence two different arches from two different manufacturers fitting the same or not fitting as it turns out So outer all in place measure, re measured and measured again and now all in the same place as the arch the other side and this is how it looked on the inside back Front of the arch inside Great so I calmly stud up walked out and locked the door. Restore the escort I said, be an enjoyable experience I said what a good idea I SAID!! So much contemplation later 2 weeks to be precise and got back to it only option cut up the inner tub outer edge. It did fit nicely on the top edge so I desided to clamp it together there and the front and back of where it stopped fitting put a cut in and pull the edge down to fit Just like this as it was And where it needs to be So with that now where it needed to be time to fill the gap welded a few tabs to hold it in place. always love lying below where you welding ouch Same done to the front as well but also it didn't meat the sill follow the shape right so corrected that as well So after many nights and hours later we've ended up with this not yet groud back the welds on the inside yet so looks a little messy but cleaned up will look fine and when it's had a coat of stone chip no one will ever know Outer all nicely lined up now as well and after some changes to the front bottom edge follows the sill and body lines loads better. you can see just how much filler there is in there and that's on top of a sill thats been fitted to it at some point as well but Nice and straight on the bottom edge now loads better So next get the arch on going to but weld the joint so big job on I think hopefully I don't warp it to much!!!

Be back on it this week finally got the arch on seems to have taken an age to finally get it on! Got it all lined up right and marked a few lines so when the panel behind is removed I have a good reference point to line it up to Cut out the un wanted And all ready to go I have butt welded the joint. I over lapped the panels when I did the other side and it bugs me so I might have to re do that down the line So 3 hours later!! I was adamant I wasn't going to warp the quarter so I cooled down the weld and panel after every tack!! Took an age to do but has had the desired outcome so worth the time invested So then time to grind it back same process little and often so not to make any hear build up At last its on and done looks OK as well Best get that back panel on next then!
