Seen my 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 Elegance Auto Buy or not thread? Well, I did buy this great looking car. It does need a major service as it has not been used much during the last few years. It also needs a clean. It's leather upholstery is in need of some love.
Plans so far:
It's booked for a service and a window tint. Darkest legal tint.
Ok let see if I can get some photo's up. Well, my photo's are to large. Hang on I'll be back

I am not a big fan of the wheels and tires. I would like to get some bigger genuine Mercedes rims. But I need to do some study as I have no idea what fits and what not.

That looks a very nice clean car! Congratulations! The auto dim mirror glass has failed - they have a kind of dark oil sandwiched between two sheets of glass. A free fix is to pop the glass out of the mirror body and carefully break the black plastic "frame" holding the outer glass to the reflective mirror behind it, clean the oily stuff off and you will have a clear mirror again. Obviously it wont auto tint anymore though! A replacement auto dim mirror glass is a little expensive or you can get "pattern" non dimming ones. Wheels wise - 18s are a good choice on these, keep the offset around the mid 30s (i.e. about et35) with 235/40 tyres or 235/40 fronts and 265/35 rear tyres if going for a staggered wheel set up. You could swap out your Elegance springs for Avantgarde ones for a subtle drop and fine tune it with thinner spring pads and still keep a nice compliant ride too. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

Thanks mate. I did "you tube" the mirror but that didn't give any more confidence.I will give it a go. So, I understand that the Avantgarde sits a bit lower from factory?
I agree, 18" is the size to go for. Just a nice big rim without looking out of place. Thanks

Doing the mirror "free fix" sounds more complicated than it is mate. Go for it - you have nothing to lose! :-) Yes the Avantgarde sits lower than the Elegance (how much depends on what spring pads are fitted at the top of the spring) but on average they are about an inch lower.

To give you an idea - this is my old 210 estate with 8x18 front with 235/40s and 9x18 rears with 265/35s and a bit of lowering.

Very nice , it looks very clean around the door hinges , which is a good sign & nice to see 😉, Some flat face AMG's , 17 or 18's would look great on it 👍

The tyres will need changing but the wheels will fit. Only thing to check is the bolts. If the wheels come with bolts they wont fit your car as they are M14 x 1.5 and your W210 uses M12 x 1.5. Check your original W210 bolts fit ( length, seating and whether theres enough shoulder on the seating). If not you will have to buy new suitable bolts.

I just bought these wheels. Paid $355 on Ebay. If they fit.....Some say; yes, some say; not sure some say; No way. I think they will but not with these tires. The tires are really big, 295/35/18 for the rear. But in worse case scenario I'll sell them without a loss and maybe even with some profit. The size of these rims should be Front 18x8.5 Offset 34.5 255/40R18 Rear 18x9.5 Offset 48 285/35R18 This is what I currently have Front and rear 16x7.5 Offset 41 215/55R16

Go for it - you have nothing to lose! :-) Yes the Avantgarde sits lower than the Elegance (how much depends on what spring pads are fitted at the top of the spring) but on average they are about an inch lower. So, when I find a wrecker with an Avantgarde I have to ask for F&R coils and F&R Spring Pads? Thanks I'll Google in a minute to find out what spring pads are.......Hope you did not sent me for something like a left handed screw driver To me it sounds like something you buy in the "lady section" at the supermarket.

That's funny for a Mercedes they are called Spring Pads For a Nissan Patrol Coil spacers. Both do exact the same.
Thanks learned something again!
