Anyone else watching?
My opinion for what it is worth is they have made improvements from the 1st season. The 1st 2 episodes this year I thought were fantastic but the next 3 not so good.
I really must have a go in that sand buggy thing that wheelies at any speed! That was hilarious.
Pointless celeb bits still IMHO and the 'Track' just isn't a track so again, pretty pointless.
They still have the same aura around each other though and although scripted, it is still funny as!

I like the fact that they've addressed this issue by doing an 'unscripted' challenge feature in one of the episodes. This criticism comes up all the time with so many TV shows. Of course they have scripts, they'd be unwatchable if they were all improvised...

I watched the last one for some sort of self-flagellating completist reason, which is about 10 hours of my life I'll never get back. I knew it'd be bad, but somehow wanted to the watch the emerging car crash anyway.
I've been there, done that and have literally no interest in the new one. May's off the hook for his other genial and watchable shows - especially The Reassembler or whatever it's called, but Clarkson and Hammond make me a little queasy in just how out of touch they are.
YouTube has so much good stuff these days for people with more than an idle interest in cars that this sort of bloated mess seems to be grasping out with baby arms to grab as much of the mainstream 'bloke down the pub' market as it can with ever dumber and charmless stunts.
Do yourself a favour and watch quality like MCM, Soup, Project Binky, Fully Charged on YouTube.

Forgive me for asking (however I suspect I'm not the only one wondering...) but does anyone have a link to watch Season 2 for those of us without Amazon Prime?

It's easy to knock them for sticking to what has always been a winning formula, so I will try not to do that... however I find I can't watch it anymore. It's not that it offends me in anyway. It's more that I'll put it on, but then drift away into looking at the internet, or suddenly remembering something I'd like to watch instead. I just find it all really boring and predictable. There are always one or two points in most episodes where I will snort, briefly, with laughter, but not enough to make me return to it.
In some ways I think it's actually become an obstacle that is holding back creative ideas around (mainstream TV) car shows. It's become the defacto formula, the only way you can do it, and all other formats and approaches have flopped in its shadow.
With every passing episode those three have done, whether its the Grand Tour or the last of the Top Gears, I've found myself suspecting they are all on the verge of getting tired of it and throwing the towel in. They never do though, and I have to wonder if that's because of the money. It must be a huge laugh making it, and there's really no better job in the world. But equally, it must get tedious over the long term, and tiring and hugely demanding, and even they must be a bit bored of the 2D characters they have become over the years.
My money is on James May leaving sometime soon, or Clarkson's health/age failing him.

The first series for 3 was OK. The Celebrity Braincrash got alot of stick but I could see why they did it. They wanted to show celebs were willing to come on but that the BBC were probably also sharpening their lawyer's pencils, especially with Chris Evans then on board. I recall Andy Wilman saying that was a real concern for him as a producer ; he was one of the main architects of Top Gear remember, but also Clarkson's school friend. I even quite liked the American I admit, but the new test driver is easier on the eye . The second series was a definite improvement and one which is getting better as the episodes go on I feel. Before I felt the series didn't have a future. Now that has very much changed ; I quite like JC's Farmkhana bit, even if was a jab at Ken Block!

So far, I've found the second series to be a big improvement over the first. They have ditched all the bits that didn't work in the first series.
I like the way they are not bothering to hide the changes, either. Stuff like Hammond saying "we got rid of the American because you all hated him!".

I watched the first series and it had its moments but there was so much filler and padding that wasn't really needed at all.
With the comments in this thread I will be making time to watch series 2 as it sounds like its much improved.

Still didn’t ‘get’ it. Too much hard work watching boring or unfunny segments to get to the fun or interesting stuff. Much more looking forward to the new series of Top Gear

I'm not sure its aimed at me anymore. Its OK, but as mentioned earlier in this thread YouTube is now my go to for car related programming, especially now I can get it on my TV!

I watched the first series, and although it wasn't as good as the old Top Gear, it was infinitely better than the new Top Gear, which I gave up watching about 15 minutes into Episode 2. Season 2 of the Grand Tour is better than the first, although still not perfect, as many have said already. I like the bits where they're out and about best.

I'm enjoying season 2 more than 1, and I'm not too proud to admit that in the last episode I found the skit with Clarkson 'pretending' to rally the Scooby hilarious. Simple pleasures.

Haven't watched any of them tbh - mainly because I don't want to give Amazon my money if they aren't going to pay taxes like I have to (which apparently they don't as the run everything outside the UK tax jurisdiction) ! (The funny thing is that I havn't even missed them - whereas I had to see every episode of TG when they were on it - but not so now).
I thought I was being a miserable ***, but after speaking with a few friends - it seems quite a few haven't followed them over to Amazon Prime - for various reasons - so I have to believe the figures aren't where they were with TG.

all filler no killer
ep1 season 2 they managed to stretch that supercar test the whole episode, car bits of it were boring, the banter was funny, rest of the hour padded out with waffle and scripted comedy routines. they didnt launch with a bang, no actual touring anymore, just pre-recorded global items. (wasnt that the actual USP of the show ?) it feels like the budget has been slashed or something ?
i miss the format of top gear with 6 or 7 features per episode, variety, even season 1 GT had this. now it feels more like one of clarksons christmas DVDs, which are ok, but 6 episodes have aired so far and i've only fired up the amazon app once.

Just been watching the latest episode with the Jaaaaags. Reminds me of the Top Gear specials somewhat. I like it.
