Hi all, this is my Ford Orion, it was formerly owned by an elderly gent who kept it garaged and regularly serviced it. It has a 1.6 16v engine, and is the Equipe with 51k miles. It have a couple of tiny rust spots I need to deal with but they are only tiny spots above the rear wheelarches, everything else is very clean. My plan is to keep it original but I will also look to try and preserve it by nipping rust in the bud and perhaps undersealing it. It needs a new water pump which is being sorted on Wednesday, and then I will look to sort out the radio which isn't working. -Jonathan

Nice! I had one myself to learn to drive in, never got that far though as my grandad connected the battery the wrong way around and it messed it up electrically, so he bought me a k10 Micra to replace it

Thanks for the replies! Sorry to hear that, astranaut! These are indeed pretty rare now, I think they're starting to get classic car status so hopefully the remaining ones will stand more of a chance. The interior on this one is very nice too, I will try and get some pics of that up soon.

Great to see a survivor, I recall these being quite unloved way back in the 90's so it's nice to see they're being more appreciated now. Defiantly get it under-sealed!

Slammedorion- I really like your MK3! Looks like you did a lot of work on it, and like a fun car Speedie- Yes, I am pleased there's people who are Orion fans! I will probably get it undersealed at my friend's garage, he does some really top work. Rust has to be the biggest killer of these cars so I want to nip it in the bud now.

Hi all, I treated the Orion to a wash and wax including the underside today to keep the salt at bay, I will also be undersealing it fairly soon Also I got a Retro Rides decal for the back! I also have installed a new radio (I have kept the cassette deck just in case, even though it didn't work), and the sound quality is surprisingly good. Next plans other than the undersealing is sorting the small patches of rust on the rear wheelarches, and I will re-attach the door trim on the driver's side. Also the front passenger door isn't quite lined up right, though it is only a little out, I will deal with that at some point.

That looks very clean! As you say rust seems to have killed most of them off.
The Cousin who I credit with my car obsession was an Orion fan when I was a kid. He had a MK3 Lowered on S2 RS Turbo wheels with Recaros, I used to love it.

Hi all, I wondered if anyone knows how to find the colour code for my Orion. I need to do some work on the rear wheelarches and there is a little dent near the boot I have been meaning to sort, however I am new to Orions and unsure how to locate the colour code.

This is purely based on other cars I've had but normally under the boot carpet theres a sticker which will have all the info.

Looks a nice motor I had an early mk5 front black h plate ghia when i was 17 before i passed my test, i cammed it and put an fse power boost valve on etc, lowered it and it was still cheaper to insure than an xr3i, i got some funny looks driving it around with L plates on with my dad in the passenger side when i was racing folks, I loved that car stupidly I sold it to a mate and he killed it then sold it on
The colour looks like aqua foam to me, a quick call or visit to your local ford parts department and they can confirm the code it should still show on etis, alternatively if you can look at your vin iirc there is a line of numbers going vertical on the left hand side of it the colour code should be 2nd from the bottom

I had the Escort badged version of this for a while. It was my grandad's, a 1994 1.6i LX. It was a solid runner, albeit not quick!
