I forgot to say another thing. Have a chat with these guys regarding bushes and other general stuff. www.emcmotorsport.com They organise the Puma cup and recommend all sorts of great but cheap mods ; using an Escort RS2000 bush for the lower arm or something like that was discussed. You are welcome to say that I sent you . They may deal in Porsche but they do complete races, including the Britcar where I believe they hold the record for 968s still running at the end .

Great work mate. I bought one last year and it's been sat in my garage waiting for me to do something! You've given me some pointers and inspiration. I'll start doing bits in the New Year.

Great little cars, I had a 1.7 with ST150 front brakes and coilovers, it was hilarious to drive, just lacked a little on the straights.
Infinitely better than a Tigra too!

Oo er, as it's Christmas I'll go easy! Also it's Paul 's thread about his Puma. Apologies for the Tigra content. In their standard form it's the Corsa B ( Tigra) vs the Fiesta 4 ( Puma) and mechanically the Fiesta/Puma was maybe better ( certainly more power) but look at this rear three quarter picture from a design perspective.... If you drove - for ten minutes - the Tigra I put together for my wife last year, I think you'd feel differently. Carry on Puma fanatics!

I've chucked the FUBAR one but you're welcome to the O/S one. Progress is slow due to the weather/post Xmas funk but I had time to foul up a few jobs today... New drum brakes and cylinder fitted. I hate drum brakes. I don't believe for ONE second the 5 different springs are necessary. Still unhappy with the braking, I found some straight swap ST150 brakes, pads, callipers and discs on eBay and, having had another cheeky offer accepted, proceeded to pick them up on Christmas Eve. Old flimsiness: New hotness: I also hate bleed nipples that are made of cheese. So due to my own impatience and ham-fistedness my eBay bargain becomes a mammoth task, involving a 50 mile round trip and almost paying double in order to pick up a 3rd calliper. Not to mention the T15 torx bolt I hammered in there.

glad you have raised the enthusiasm to get some spannering done, my fiesta is waiting on a water pump as it seems to be only thermo siphoning at the moment and my mondeo appears to have a nonfunctioning fuel pump. been too cold for my old bones :-D

Self-satisfied job-done car picture. Front wishbones, drop links, track rods all replaced, bigger front brakes fitted (3rd caliper's a charm), rear shoes and cylinders replaced (found out that as well as a leaky cylinder one rear adjuster was seized - clearly not helping the handbrake), brakes bled all round and handbrake now working as it should. Got my new wheels on as well...eleventy internet points for who can guess what they came off. Even got proper flat faced nuts to keep them in place. 16s, so slightly bigger and I think they fill the arches well enough...

flat nuts are a giveaway as well as me recognising them :-D you got the right size spigot rings as the wheels wont self centre when you do them up ;-)

That's the only sticker ;-)
They are Pug GTi wheels...with proper nuts and spigot rings thank you very much...a rare moment of doing a job properly (and googling what could happen if I stuck with standard tapered nuts!)

These have really grown on my in recent years, so cheap and were loved by the motoring press when released. Never driven a Puma, but I drove a friends Zetec-S Fiesta with the 1.6 and pretty much the same chassis and that was a riot to drive!
Those Peugeot wheels really suit it, they look almost like they’d have been a factory upgrade.

It's no motorway cruiser but it's perfect for blasting 20miles of B roads to work. The purists don't like the non-Ford wheels because they're ET27 as opposed to 35 and I bought them primarily because they've got decent Continental rubber on them - but I think they're staying...

A set of generic eBay ford centre caps and you’d never know! Looks great.
