I had an immaculate white S2. Not a spec of rust. Sold it for 2 grand in 2009. Bet its worth a heck of a lot more now. (assuming the kid didn't crash it) I bet, I have listed my S1 106 Roland Garros on Ebay but it hasn't got the same appeal as the Rallye. Even though there's less of them.. Homolgated Rally model will do that! That Rallye was special to drive, I had to have the rear beam rebuilt (everyone's went eventually) but after that it was a cornering machine. They only got I think 103hp or something like that from the 1.6 8valve (the S1 had a 1.3?) but it made the power all through the band, plus the gearing was perfect. Top speed flat out was 119mph on the satnav, but its all it needed.

Regardless of how good it is / isn't - In MY book there is no way that its worth £65.9K which is what it is currently bid to

Almost 70 grand now...you got laugh no matter what the reasoning is behind the bidding.

People are obviously messing it up out of spite - whether its kids , spiteful other enthusiasts who knows .
Obviously much cheaper to source another and restore it , even if it cost you 10k for the car to start with !

I think they should start charging people to place a bid to try and stop time wasters from playing games. On a car with a £5000+ starting bid, maybe £1000 to bid that gets refunded if you loose the bidding or paid to the seller once the deal is completed. If you are bidding on a car this much then you should have the money away.

It's obviously a curse word take now. Shame for the owner as apparently this is the second time he's tried selling it and been messed about.
10k seems to be the figure banded about when Sport values are mentioned although you very rarely see or hear of any being sold.
I'd give the highest bidder my Gte for a measly 10% of his bid!!

£35G's tops for a nova. At 18, that is a total bargain- watched.

link is dead now, so i guess it was pulled DEW TWO TIM W8STERZZ edit now its working again, oh well ! Where Nova's competitive in motorsport when new? Will there be a FIA championship for this car to compete in at some point in the future? multiple class wins in the hands of harry hockley, dave metcalfe and colin mcrae (A5 and A6 class which i think at the time were up to 1300cc and up to 1600cc) they are already eligible for historic rallying, not that you would use a nova sport for any of that!

if they get it FAIR PLAY TO THEM , why knock them [/quote With due respect to your comment - I can explain exactly why they should be 'knocked' - it's exactly this type of stupidity that over inflates / over hypes the classic / retro market leading to excessive over valuations of the examples that are the subject of this thread - within a very short period of time this will drag the price up of any other sporting example be it GT / GTI / limited edition / turbo nutter spec etc and should it escalate enough it will also take the base model examples with it - In turn this will lead to everything in the model range from concours to a dodgy history bodyshell with a V5 that is well beyond any chance of it seeing the road again (but it will be willingly ringed onto another bent / stolen / disguised car) all being priced with the 'Greed Factor' taking the model well out of the affordable range of the majority of genuine enthusiasts that would desire to own one in the first place. Hence it completely spoils the market for the car whilst attracting the spurious individuals to pedal their wares on the unsuspecting. Still need more convincing ? You only have to look at state of the market for the Mk 1 Escort !! but there are quite a few others that spring to mind - Personally I don't see any fair play here

Thing is, if you apply that logic to other spheres of life where would it end? Cap all house prices, make sure milk never exceeds £1.50 a pint? Where does you go with it. Maybe MK1 Escorts (HC Vivas were WAAAAAY better to drive) are now out of my range but so are 68 Mustangs and Jensen Interceptors, its life. Ive bought different cars to compensate, ok, they will never replace my dream but they have made a pretty good fist of it. If I really want a Sporting Nova that suddenly goes out of my price range I will look for a boggo one and create the car I want. This is where the likes of you and I can and do think outside of the box, we can think about building the car we want, almost certainly within a budget that doesn't break us while the utter saps that can throw £30k at an Escort probably cannot and, should they ever need to sell it on, will have to find another sap with £30K Thing is, for cars that have been priced out of my reach I consider it a s**t happens scenario, i will just have to save harder or discover a gem hidden in plain sight because people are too focused on shelling out a five figure sum for a rebuilt sunburst red MK3 XR3 . People have always been greedy and people have always had more money than sense. Leave them to it.
