What model? 1.0 or 1.2, or even 1.2S? 3dr or 5dr? As I know from when I had my 1.2GL 5dr, those extra doors will detract hugely from the value and saleability of it. I didn’t lose on mine, but it wasn’t as easy to sell on as I’d thought.
Stupid really, because they’re just as nice to drive. Very light, great steering, slick gearbox. Lots of tuning bits and expertise available too.
Oddly enough even though you say they’re basic, they are actually very refined. Lots of room in them too, I used mine to move fence panels, a big armchair etc.
Expect to make friends with the local stock car racers! I sold mine eventually to an ex-racer, nice bloke and I’ve seen it since at a show so I know it’s in good hands.

great cars, ive had 6 now and there excellent daily drives. just picked up a mk1 5dr and have been smiling ever since the 500 mile round trip to collect it. so worth moding, plenty of engine swaps are dead easy to do(4AGE,4K, 5K, dare i say nissan turbo ). great handling, great fun. . a real cult car. GET IT GOT ;D . check out kp61.net

wheels: just as mad as you want to get, but a set of wolfrace wheels in 4x114,3 pcd won't cost the world Lowering: ori KP is quite hard to find, but AE86 use the same diameter front leg, so parts will fit, but to upgrade the brakes install complete AE86 front legs (you'll need the AE86 knuckle and some bushing, to fill the gap between ball joint and knuckle, because KP one is smaller). Voila, tons of brake/suspension parts available

Mk2 Escort bits are more or less bolt in arent they thats what all the hot rod/grasser boys did round here you can buy a kit to fit a world cup x member and then everything else bolts on.

Please don't go the Ford route if you do buy it. They're getting very hard to come by now & Toyota made enough of their own great stuff without having to swap bits from other makes. If you want to know anything/need bits if you buy it-give me a shout as I've just bought LOADS & I mean loads of spares. I've got some custom lowering springs, wheels, 4k engines, twin 40 inlet manifolds, single 40 inlet manifold & weber to suit, lumpy cams as well if you're into that sort of thing....

you got it stealthstylz - I couldn't believe it when my mate told me about it - apparently they could get a starlet in, drop the front end out and bolt up rs2000 legs and a pinto - inside a day!!! they had to use chuvitt's in the end, as they used up probably all the starlets in north wales - which is wny I can't find one!! - kev

Whats wrong with ford stuff you can get anything you want to easily upgrade escort stuff to group 4 spec and more, engine mounts are dead easy to sort, 2nd hand bits are easy to get etc etc.
