Right! when I had the 480 Turbo the plan was to give it the Crazy Octopus treatment. Unfortunately the car fell to pieces before I got round to it...... .....soooooo my plan was to buy something cheap RWD and then paint that Nato green, slam it and generally look like an idiot! But because when I pick up my gold sierra (6 months ago) I was quite taken by its gold over blackness, I decide to leave it as it is...... ......now I am a little restless and after find a dent in the back after parking it next to the harbour (very angry!) It has rekindled thoughts about paint it. What you guy think? One last thing my mates offered up his drive in a few weeks time to help me do it and I already have all the bits and piece ready from last time. Primer, Nato paint, rollers, sanding block/paper and loadsa masking tape!

I am going to be boring and say leave it gold or just buy another car and paint that green instead.

Do it, even if it's just for the hell of doing it. What's the missus think to the idea? Thought you'd know better than to park anything straight near the harbour

wasnt it you who started a thread a while ago about doing too much to one car, just for the sake of doing it? if you want to ruin your car and everything it is, all the understated cool it has, break out the green paint......

I think with the wheels as they are it needs to stay gold. To pull off the nato green look it needs matt black 8x14 and 11x14 deep dish steels.

.........or just buy another car and paint that green instead. Would love a second car but I cant afford! What's the missus think to the idea? Thought you'd know better than to park anything straight near the harbour The missus doesn't mind as long as it don't look curse word, and yeah the harbour sucks wasnt it you who started a thread a while ago about doing too much to one car, just for the sake of doing it? if you want to ruin your car and everything it is, all the understated cool it has, break out the green paint...... I don't think I started the thread, but IIRC I said sommit like I always get bored and end up going to far (which this might be the case) however my plan was originally to paint it green so its not like I'm making a rash decision ....and as for understated cool....er....I removed the door stripes because they were peeling off and I have found that theres little holes in the doors (put there by ford don't know what fof?) and the black line under the stripes is not straight. Plus TBH the paint is fairly poor in several areas!

Do it...you can always roller something else over it if you don't like it. In fact you could do it once a month and confuse everyone!

Step away from the paint brush!!!!!! You don't seem to get how jazzy that sierra is. You've only got one car yeah? Time to get summat daft like my van and get creativve and experiMENTAL with that IMO PLus you'll need another car when we get a Cossie, or V8 in there. I would not want to replicate the octopussy, but summat cool could be done to something...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Plus TBH the paint is fairly poor in several areas! I think you misunderstood what I meant slightly. what I mean by understated is..... its a 4 door sierra. you've spent the cash where it counts and done the right mods first, proper suspension to get it sitting right. excellent complimentary wheel and tyre choice. minor body smoothing. if you do anything else to a 4 door sierra, its going to look like you're trying way to hard. especially doing 'fashion' mods like army paint. if you wonna do something bodywise, sort out any paint issues/dents, and maybe smooth a little more. delock the boot and doors, other little things that clean it up. or, drop a wad on some motor parts....... personally, I just think you should be applauded for doing a sierra that isn't some RS or cosworth bodykitted/bumpered/vented effort.

Just like various people have said; It's understated cool at the mo If it's not as perfect as you'd want it to be if it stayed gold (and if you're gonna be leaving it near the quay and collecting more imperfections) AND it was what you intended to do originally then why not. Just remember that at the moment you can pick your nose in traffic and hardly anyone notices, when it's painted more people are gonna notice! Anyway feel free to ignore me I've previously satin blacked an AX GT500 and this and did this so I'm a tad biased

Tis upto you. Ia gree with Dez you have got to the Top of the Sierra Pops here at RR. It looks plush. If you really wanna Nato it do, but you'll need steelies, and all other kinds of comlementaries. Half the prob with my sierra is that i want to put my mark on it, and cant, well can but not without money, paint job was always on the cards, sticking with natural features now, with a twist. Nice creations cheeqi we've seen some of them. balck Cors a looks ace, I know my van would look good in satin... hmmm

If that Sierra was mine i'd leave it as it is, it looked gorgeous on the track at RR'07.
I was thinking of going the Nato Green route on my Skud, but i'm now thinking of Red Oxide.

i had enough of a look around that to know i've never seen a 5dr sierra as nice, never mind a gold one. if you roll some green over it i may be forced to come slap you seriously, way to kool for scool as is. any form of not-touching-up-the-gold-paint = NotFTW.
