I'm gonna be brutally honest, i hate the ford sierra, i hate the colour gold on cars. Given these statements i hate to say it but leave the sierra well alone, as you first said, you was taken by the gold over black and i was to. If i EVER see that car painted green by your hand i will smash all the glass as punishment (the threat of vandalism is fake but the point remains....)

Its too shiny and cool looking to do it. If it was a faded, dented/rusty shi#ter then break out the green, but I voted for keep it as is. Your choice though, i reckon it would still look good in Nato green, with a white star on the door, and camo netting on the back seat etc...

If it was mine, I'd keep it gold. It's less work, too! M

Looks so sweet in gold. Much better than it would nato'd (this is coming from someone who loves matt paint). leave it gold.

If it was a faded, dented/rusty shi#ter then break out the green, My Sierra fits this criteria, I should stop being a tart and slap on the satin black.

Green, I mean sure... it's nice in Gold but you bought it because you wanted to go green on it's ass. So, green it is.
Alternatively, post a sizable image and I'll photohack it (other people will probably end up doing it first) and do a comparison that way which would be easier to make your mind up on I would think.

Gold..... dare to be DIFFERENT and don't sex it up.
I love the green thing, but this car has more presence being gold than the green would.

I don't think I can add anything constructive that hasn't already been said. (My opinion = your car is currently iconic on R-R in it's current form, but thats not to say you should stop developing it. get kyteler to potatochop and see what you think) So... does anyone else think that paint looks like Tesco Value TM Paint?

please please please don't paint it green, it undo all the hard work uve put into it already
why not touch up where the gold paint has faded/rusted properly with gold.

Have to side with the majority on this, I love it as is. Its so understated, yet has simple, subtle mods that make all the difference. The wheels, the spot on ride height, the "open" bonnet . Nato green would be a step too far and it would no longer be a cool laid back Sierra, it would just be a fashion victim. And that would be a shame.

Well, I voted "leave as-is". I can't help but think of all those people who painted their S1 RSTs Citrine Yellow in the '90s and were then regretting it about four months later.... ;D (Or whenever they came to sell and it was worth £1000s less than a stocker).
But it's your car!

I think you have a genuinely different looking car and if the bonnet sat normally it would look absolutely spot on.

I have a very early mk1 Sierra 5 door hatchback, 1.6 'Laser' with 75k on it.
Very tidy inside with minimal rust. Gunmetal grey in colour

I'm gonna be brutally honest, I hate the ford sierra, I hate the colour gold on cars. .... Not really the RR way but honesty is good. Also you are not the first to dislike the sierra here either, as for the colour, mine is a pale China blue, its growing on me now. Robin, I have had a thought you need to buy one like ^ the one above, and completely gut it into some jelly mould shaped Army Jeep type thing, go the whole hog windows out seats out, wierd frame sprung cushion seats, and stuff, think about gotwoods car except with your Nato theming on a Sierra, Tell ya what, a 4x4 would be a good sraing point, raise suspension with knobblies on Wellers this could b very very cool addition, might even get you at No2

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Another leave it as is vote for me. Looks proper cool to me, and I'm not a Sierra fan normally, but I do like yours.
I've tried to paint over a roller/brush painted car before and its a nightmare. If you do it you are stuck with it unless you then strip the whole fugger back.

Oh plums looks like popular opinion is against me! Right I am going to keep it gold - FACT Guess I'll have to keep the paint for when the missus gets a car, I can see her cruising around in a slammed NATO green Mk3 Fiesta. She a social worker so that might be quite funny ;D Just need to get that dent sorted and the door sorted.......
