Had exactly the same with that Audi 100 I had. Went to Northampton to pick up a 'great daily driver' Within two weeks of having it home head gasket had gone, bad luck or done over? It's another cool motor for you tho Mate The guy i bought it for claimed he'd been to Kent from Manchester in it more than once, but I think that's bull. It has all the signs of a car that has had very little use, and often putting them back into service throws up problems Like this.

I actually quite like the L series, I'd possibly put another big 6 in if it wasn't too expensive. But they all seem to be. Finding a gearbag at OK money is proving difficult though. I have an S14 SR20DE and manual box (complete setup) coming my way... Not enuf cyls doe M9. Needs to be a 6 minimum. Apparently RBs drop in, they came with them in some markets. Expensive for what you get though, and I'm not overly concerned about turbos with the build style I'm going for. Would rather triple carbs or itbs. A Lexus v8 would also be cool, but all the gearbox expense outweighs the motor being cheap.

BMW getrag boxes seem to be popular and also seen a couple of mentions of RX8 boxes on the Lexus V8's.

Surely at this stage it would be entirely logical to get the wheels and stance sorted ?

Well, me gran had a word with sandy claws, and I was provided with a box full of rusty old sh1t- And a box full of shiny new bits too, at no outlay to myself, which is nice. The coilovers are from Max speeding rods via eBay, and for the price really cannot be faulted. Camber adjust top Mounts, platform adjust, short stroke dampers, platform adjustable, specified Spring rates and 24 point damping adjustable, for £275 for the set. After sales service gets surprisingly good reviews too. More importantly, they go bloody low! These are s13 fitment, as are the new (old) hubs. with a few tweaks they fit the c32 platform.

I'd best keep updating this since the photos are racking up. I dived straight in and tore the front end apart. Found a properly knackered lower ball joint, only £11 for a new one though. One the front the top mounts bolt straight in, you have to swap to s13 hubs and 'knuckles' as the c32 struts are one piece. This means you also have to swap the brakes, as they're not compatable. There is also a steering issue, the taper for the track rod end is a different size (smaller on the s13) so something needs to be done there. I could bore the taper larger, but there is also an issue with the shape of the track rod ends, the c32 one has a kink to kick it level again where it meets the hub, which it needs to not have to work with the s13 steering arms, they need a 'straight' end. There's a couple of options using s13 or skyline parts, I need to sit down and measure up and price out which one is best. But what you want to see is it assembled, right? A bit shorter than stock- Coilies and hubs in- And a tasty wheel thrown on for mockup. This is full droop- There's room for adapters on the front so I won't need to redrill. I chucked the stock wheels back on and let it off the jack. Front crossmember us about 1/2" off the floor with massive 185/70r14 tyres, plus it's not been driven on yet. All the tuck. This is with the camber plates set to 0 as well! Makes the back end look very high now-

Wow drastic drop. And as usual those alloys look sooo much better without the original ctr caps!

Can come down another 1/4" at least then... This is all sorts of awesome Dez. Makes me think I need some Velour in my life.... P.

Looking good already, especially with that gold wheel on I've been semi tempted by some of those max speeding rods coilovers for the RX7 as the ones on the back of my car just aren't right but I'm loathe to fork out a shedload of money for 'proper' stuff!

Tbh, they really couldn't be faulted at twice the price. I've ascertained with the next round of stuff I've done that they seem to be made of pretty good quality materials. Tbh the only thing that really lets them down is the cheap looking yellow powdercoat. If I'm being super critical, The C spanners are also a bit cheap but tbh no worse than most other free ones, and the shipping in plain packaging looses you the 'branding' that most people would get excited about. Not that that matters once fitted anyway. If had a lot of coilovers over the years, of varying quality and pricing, and if these were powdercoated black, had some fancy foil stickers on them and some extra ones in the box, and the box was branded up, they'd easily sell for a lot more, as the product itself is great.
