Hi, In the ebay logbook thread VIP Posted up the Police report address - "You can also e-mail the eBay links to ACPO AVCIS via Vehicle Fraud (intel@avcis.pnn.police.uk)" Then they can put a marker against the reg number, it's obviously easier for them if there's a reg number. Colin

Ive reported a few over the years and if you do it through the right link early enough in the auction they do remove the add. Usualy takes a couple of days.

Ebay aren't that interested, as already suggested report to AVCIS or even direct to DVLA as they can put a marker on it either removing it from their database so it can't be reissued or so that when the car reappears it needs an inspection, problem there is if done properly it will pass the inspection.

Bit naughty that I must say, bet there's thousands of cars out there with replaced id not necessarily stolen but just id changed. Still I suppose it's fundamentally " ringing" and could potentially result in someone losing their pride and joy so good on you for spotting/reporting it.

Gov. website states that a v5 must stay with the vehicle , so if the vehicle is scrapped you must surrender it to them . In theory there is no need for anyone to have a v5 and no vehicle . Circumvented by people selling a big of rust with it on ebay but I'm sure the police or ebay[ hopefully ] see through that.

I reported it to ebay a couple of days ago, I imagine others on here did as well.
This listing is now showing as 'ended', I don't know if this ringing pack has sold or if ebay has taken it down. When reporting it there is no opportunity to describe what the issue is, if the report is being dealt with by one of their C/S operatives in the Philippines I feel it's unlikely they'd understand the issue just by reading the listing. If they've had multiple reports however, it may have made a difference?

When ebay takes it off the add will no longer be able to be viewed in any format. It looks like the seller had ended the add early, I don't see the value in a 1978 Polo through.

When you google the reg, it brings up a thread from 2011 when the guy who sold it as a project it trying to track it down again. Sad end. There's a thread in the stolen section full of these if people would like to add to it, rather than filling the general board

How much would a mint VW Polo 1.0 be worth now? If you're criminally motivated that's how you'd be looking to maximise your return on this illicit enterprise, find & steal the best one you can & pass it off as freshly restored "RBG 696T" using these items off ebay then sell it on. Could be £3K for a weeks work so it's probably worth someone's while as long as they aren't troubled by their conscience.

A tidy Mk1 Polo will COST upwards of £4k. I fixed that for you Ha! But in seriousness, there are plenty of people who will pay that money, so if you have one, it WILL be WORTH upwards of £4k.
